According to The Hollywood Reporter, iZombie star Rose McIver has signed on to CBS comedy pilot Ghosts.
Based on the British series of the same name, with Joe Port and Joe Wiseman (New Girl) adapting for American television, Ghosts follows a financially struggling young couple whose prayers seem to have been answered with news that they’ve inherited a gorgeous country house. However, once the couple actually moves in, they realize that it’s not only dilapidated but haunted by the ghosts of its former inhabitants.
McIver will play Type-A freelance journalist Sam, a great listener who inherits a massive country estate that she can live in rent-free with her husband Ryan. Rather than being afraid of the ghosts, or annoyed at how desperate they are for her attention, Sam attempts to help them as best she can.
Ghosts is one of several comedy pilots in contention at CBS for 2020-21, joining B Positive, about a man seeking a kidney donation who finds his donor in an unexpected place; Jury Duty, which follows a jury throughout the course of a single trial; foster kid multi-cam Please Hold for Frankie Wolfe; sibling series The Three of Us; and The United States of Al, centering on the friendship between a Marine and his interpreter.
In addition to her role on the CW zombie dramedy, McIver’s television credits include Once Upon a Time, Masters of Sex, and upcoming Hulu series Woke.
