Deadline is reporting that the currently untitled wedding dramedy pilot set up at FOX has added Rake actor Richard Roxburgh, Veep alum Usman Ally, and Madeline Wise (Peacekeepers). Roxburgh will play legendary British rock star Nigel Valentine, known for his weakness for supermodels; Ally is set as Julian, a roguish doctor who doesn’t act like one; and Wise will be seen as Poppy, the exceedingly blunt daughter of Nigel and Lily.
Inspired by French drama Quadras and written by Tom Kapinos (Californication), the first season of the untitled dramedy takes place over the course of one wedding. The series will delve into the pasts and presents of the wedding party, as well as how the bride and groom made it to this point and the complicated web of relationships that make up their support system.
In addition to his role on the Australian drama, Roxburgh has appeared on the likes of Blue Murder: Killer Cop, Ice, and East of Everything, while Ally has been seen in A Series of Unfortunate Events, Suits, and Nobodies and Wise’s television credits include Crashing, Whatever This Is., and Other People’s Kids. They join a cast that includes Andie MacDowell and Kathleen Turner.
The drama pilots currently in the running at FOX include an untitled fertility drama starring Brittany Snow; Deputy, a police procedural centering on the new Los Angeles County sheriff; crime thriller Prodigal Son; A.I. series neXt; and Southern Gothic dramedy Filthy Rich.
