Deadline is reporting that CSI alum Marg Helgenberger has joined CBS legal drama pilot Courthouse. She’s set as powerful, groundbreaking Judge Judith Benner, a former progressive who oversees Lola’s transition to judge and rediscovers her passion for justice in the process.
From Greg Spottiswood (Remedy), Courthouse follows the lives of judges, assistant district attorneys, and public defenders as they work with bailiffs, clerks, cops, and jurors to bring justice to the people of Los Angeles.
In addition to her role on the long-lasting CBS procedural, Helgenberger’s television credits include Under the Dome, Intelligence, and Frasier. She joins a cast that features Wilson Bethel (Hart of Dixie) and Jessica Camacho (Taken), among others.
Courthouse is part of a drama pilot slate for CBS that includes X-Files-esque Evil; medical drama Under the Bridge, which stars Once Upon a Time alum Jennifer Morrison; NSA drama Surveillance; Tommy, a cop drama starring Edie Falco; backdoor FBI spinoff FBI: Most Wanted; a procedural inspired by Frankenstein; and The Republic of Sarah, which follows a New Hampshire town seeking to become an independent nation.
