Deadline is reporting that Emmy winner Edie Falco (The Sopranos) has been cast in CBS drama pilot Tommy.
From Paul Attanasio (Bull), Tommy tells the story of Abigail “Tommy” Thomas (Falco), a quintessentially New York former NYPD officer who’s just been hired as the first ever female Chief of Police for the LAPD. The series follows Tommy as she adjusts to her new environment and applies her hardball sensibilities to a department in need of structure.
In addition to her iconic role on the influential HBO drama, Falco’s television credits include a seven-year run on Showtime’s Nurse Jackie, 2017 limited series Law & Order True Crime, and Oz.
Tommy is part of an extensive drama pilot slate for CBS that includes legal drama Courthouse; X-Files-esque Evil, from The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King; backdoor FBI spinoff FBI: Most Wanted; Frankenstein, a procedural based on the literary character; Republic of Sarah, about a small New Hampshire town looking to establish itself as an independent nation; NSA-focused Surveillance; and medical drama Under the Bridge.
