According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS has a late addition to its roster of comedy pilots, picking up an untitled series starring Jane the Virgin standout Jaime Camil.
From Alex Herschlag (Will & Grace) and executive produced by Jennie Snyder Urman (Charmed), the series follows an outrageously wealthy trust-fund baby (Camil) who is cut off by his father. He and his wife move into her estranged sister’s condo in Reseda, forcing the two siblings to reconnect.
In addition to the CW dramedy, Camil’s television credits include Los exitosos Perez, Por ella soy Eva, and The Prettiest Ugly Girl.
This marks the eighth comedy in development for next season at CBS, which renewed Young Sheldon for two additional seasons today. The network’s roster includes interracial romance Bob Hearts Abishola, from Chuck Lorre; Patricia Heaton-starrer Carol’s Second Act; The Emperor of Malibu, about the son of a Chinese billionaire who announces his engagement to a white American woman; Our House, centering on a young couple trying to raise their kids amid extended family interference; The Story of Us, told through interviews and vignettes; To Whom It May Concern, about a twentysomething trying to turn his life around; and The Unicorn, which follows a widower as he deals with raising his kids alone.
