Starz has released a behind the scenes look at upcoming strip club drama P-Valley and in it, we see a world where sexual exploitation meets sexual freedom.
Based on the acclaimed play Pussy Valley from Katori Hall, who also acts as executive producer and showrunner, P-Valley follows the goings-on at The Pynk, a strip club deep in the heart of the Mississippi Delta that serves as a magnet for the hopeful, the lost, the broken, the ballers, the beautiful, and the damned. The series will explore Black southern culture, particularly the role strip clubs play in it, as well as Black female sexuality and the complex relationship dancers have with their occupation.
One of several series in the pipeline for Starz, which also includes four Power spinoffs, Harlem gal pal comedy Run the World, and a Dangerous Liaisons prequel, the series stars Elarica Johnson (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), Brandee Evans (The Bobby Brown Story), Carolyn Braver (The Wisdom Tooth), Loretta Devine (Grey’s Anatomy), Harriet D. Foy (Collateral Beauty), Josh Ventura (Cloak & Dagger), Nicco Annan (This Is Us), Thomas Q. Jones (Straight Outta Compton), and Parker Sawyers (Southside with You).
The series premiere of P-Valley is set to air Sunday, July 12th on Starz.
