It’s Craig Byrne and Shilo Adams back again for the fourth day of questions regarding the new Fall TV schedule. Today we look at Thursdays, a night where ABC leads off with a spin-off from Once Upon A Time, CBS adds more comedy, The CW goes to times past, NBC revisits their family ties, and FOX has… The X Factor.
Here are six questions regarding the night, split onto six pages, which means you should be sure to check the navigation tab below the article for more.
Let’s start already!
Can Scandal remain as hot during season 3 as it was for the majority of season 2?
SHILO: The only hesitation I have about saying that Scandal will grow this season is the fact that it airs at 10:00, which, in 2013, means that there’s a lower ceiling on just how high it can go vs. if it aired at 8:00 or 9:00. What that ceiling is, I’m not sure, but I have a feeling that it’s not far off and that in terms of live ratings, the show is about as popular as it can feasibly be right now.
That’s not to say that I think the show’s popularity could be in jeopardy this season. Its audience is arguably the most engaged of anything on broadcast television and, more importantly, it’s shown that it’s not dependent on Grey’s Anatomy to perform, growing from its lead-in multiple times last season. Should the other Shonda Rhimes creation stumble early in the season, it won’t be a death knell for Scandal, so I think that as long as the show stays true to what it is and its cast continues to be as active on social media, it should comfortably win its time slot this season.
CRAIG: I actually think Scandal can and will continue to grow. It sounds as though Season 2 left on a very big cliffhanger that will make people curious; but also, there are people like myself, and others I’ve heard from, who have gotten caught up via streaming and DVD. It’s the equivalent of summer reruns boosting a show’s popularity in the hiatus. It seems that the show keeps getting its converts, and as long as the acting remains good and the stories stay strong, I think it’ll be in great shape.

This is one female looking forward to Reign. I’m also a fan of SPN and Arrow. I watch most of the CW’s shows. But, I’m also 36, so not the target demo anymore.
Thursday is giving my DVR a workout! I already record TBBT, and now I have a conflict between Elementary and Parenthood. NBC moving Parenthood to Thursday at 10 really shocked me. It could get creamed and I hope NBC isn’t expecting too much, or it might end up the last season just because they moved it. I’ll be recording Elementary and watching it with the mister later.
I’m totally looking forward to Reign. It looks like an AMAZING show. I already ship Mary and Sebastian. (Torrance Coombs). Such a lovely potential couple, prince is also fine, but his step brother is better :)
