SHILO: 8:00 The Flash; 9:00 DC’s Legends of Tomorrow
CRAIG: 8:00 The Flash; 9:00 Black Lightning
SHILO: Honestly, this is kind of The CW’s placeholder night. The Flash is ending this season having dropped about 40% of the demo that it had in October and they know what they can get out of Legends of Tomorrow, so Legends absorbs the This Is Us blow while The Flash gets a compatible lead-out and strong fall marketing to strengthen itself. In a schedule with a lot of upheaval, The CW needs a couple of nights where they play close to the vest and I think this could be one of them, at least until midseason.
CRAIG: Eventually, The Flash will have to move. Eventually, Black Lightning will be able to charge off on its own. But for the coming TV season, I think the two paired decently enough to withstand any Roseanne–This Is Us–Voice monsters that come in their way. The CW has other nights more in need of fixing. So, keep it as it was this midseason.
