MIDSEASON MUSINGS
SHILO: The CW midseason will consist of probably two more new dramas (one from CBS, one from WB) along with the fifth season of The 100 and the fourth season of iZombie. I wouldn’t be too surprised to see more of The Originals, as it’s done better this spring than I thought it would, but the network’s schedule was crowded enough this season and renewing The Originals on top of everything already mentioned might be the breaking point. If The CW doesn’t feel like it’s done with The Originals, I could even see it pushed to the summer as they’ve wanted to get more into summer scripted in recent years. Best case scenario for The Originals is The CW only going for one more new drama and it coming from CBS, but I don’t know how likely that would be.
CRAIG: One thing you’ll notice about my Fall schedule up above is that DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is not on my fall line-up. Four DC Universe based shows out of 10 possible timeslots is already pushing it; if it were my choice, I’d want a Legends of Tomorrow special episode (kind of like the Doctor Who Christmas specials) to air as part of the crossover in November or December before cutting into a season of back-to-back episodes at midseason. A few of my other notes about midseason can be seen in my schedule notes up above. As for The Originals, as I mentioned, the fans deserve closure, and I’m not sure The CW is ready to close the door on Julie Plec just yet, much like I don’t think we’ll lose iZombie now that Rob Thomas’ The Lost Boys – which at least at one point was rumored to be casting – is not officially a thing for this season at least. I’d imagine we’ll get at least one more new series launch at midseason – perhaps Searchers, maybe Insatiable or Valor… who knows, really. I do expect or anticipate some more CBS-produced new series being ordered since Reign is ending this summer.

The saying is actually “big-league”.
The use of “Bigly” was a joke, much like the person who originally said something that sounded like it.
