TUESDAY
CRAIG: 8:00 The Grinder; 8:30 New Girl; 9:00 Scream Queens
SHILO: 8:00 Scream Queens; 9:00 The Guide to Surviving Life; 9:30 New Girl
ACTUAL SCHEDULE: 8:00 Grandfathered; 8:30 The Grinder; 9:00 Scream Queens
SHILO: It’s interesting that New Girl is coming off the bench even with the banked episodes they’ve shot to accommodate star Zooey Deschanel’s pregnancy. But the Tuesday arrangement is what befuddles me the most, as FOX put two new comedies against The Voice, NCIS, and ABC’s family comedies rather than giving them the Scream Queens lead-in. Granted, Scream Queens isn’t exactly family entertainment, but it would have a big enough premiere in order to at least get the comedies sampled and give them an hour with no direct competition. Instead, FOX has guaranteed itself a schedule change, given that two new shows put together rarely, if ever, results in two keepers, while the Scream Queens lead-in will be wasted on the affiliates.
CRAIG: Check it out, John Stamos back on Tuesdays at 8. Don’t forget The Flash is in that hour, too. But anyway: I could see this as potentially being a disaster. All new shows in one night… though the comedies look funny. I’m not convinced Scream Queens will be the success everyone thinks it will be, either. I know Ryan Murphy shows at least seem to premiere big, but this one? Something’s not sitting right with me, and I can’t really decide on what it is.
