THURSDAY
SHILO: 8:00 Thursday Night Football
CRAIG: 8:00 Thursday Night Football
SHILO: In preparation for their forthcoming rebrand, FOX successfully outbid CBS and NBC for the rights to Thursday Night Football, thereby occupying its entire fall Thursday lineup. The move is a way for FOX to rake in primo ad dollars associated with live-event programming while signaling its shift in strategy to the rest of the industry. While you can argue about how profitable the move will turn out to be or the value of the diminished product put forth every Thursday, the network will be much stronger in L+SD ratings this fall compared to last. As far as midseason, I think they either put out a third season of music competition The Four, which moved to Thursday this summer following a successful midseason run on Wednesdays, or return to a two drama lineup.
CRAIG: Football is an expensive but probably very smart proposition for FOX. And hey, we know for sure that we’ll be right in this prediction!

The Four run on Thursdays for its first season too. The X-Files and 9-1-1 were on Wednesdays this winter on FOX.
