    New GirlMIDSEASON MUSINGS

SHILO: So in this scenario, New Girl and The Mick would be midseason shows, with the former going into a final season after a lengthy run and possibly subbing in for Brooklyn Nine-Nine if FOX doesn’t want a full season of that show. (For its part, The Mick would make a decent bridge show for The Last Man on Earth.) I think FOX orders at least one more midseason drama to go with The X-Files, possibly Controversy if they get rid of Shots Fired, while there’ll be at least one midseason comedy just for backup purposes. Buzz seems to point toward Eva Longoria-starrer Type-A, about a group of consultants whose job it is to deliver bad news to businesses. I’m leaning toward them not bringing 24 back because the executives sounded disappointed at the show’s performance, though more Prison Break wouldn’t shock me. Basically, FOX will be a grab bag of reboots, Gordon Ramsey, cobbled together reality, and the odd prestige/syndication play next season. Which is pretty par for the course over the past few seasons.

CRAIG: I don’t know a whole lot about FOX’s midseason plans, but I’d assume The X-Files, Behind Enemy Lines, Orville, and Controversy will probably fit in there somewhere… as would Star, of course. It’s usually moot to try to predict FOX’s midseason plans because they usually change a half-dozen times before January anyway. And of course, I have some shows listed for Fall that you are saving for later.
