CRAIG: 8:00 Gifted (aka Untitled Marvel Action-Adventure X-Men Drama); 9:00 Gotham
SHILO: I know what you’re thinking – combining Marvel and DC shows is heresy. Believe me, I think it could go a little sideways myself, but it feels like something that FOX would do. Gifted (which I don’t think is the confirmed name of the Marvel Action-Adventure Drama yet) was seemingly put together with the FOX Mondays at 8:00 slot in mind, given that it’s a broad, family-friendly genre show, and where FOX busted up the Gotham/Lucifer lineup this midseason for 24/APB, I feel like they think they can do better than what those two shows were doing this season. As Lucifer is more flexible given its tone and procedural elements and more promising given its retention from Gotham, I think they’ll use it elsewhere while leaving Gotham on the night and pushing it to 9:00. It’s been pretty sturdy this season in the wake of FOX’s crumbling, so giving it a (possibly/probably) strong and (possibly) compatible lead-in should offset whatever declines would come from moving later.
CRAIG: Here’s a dilemma: As a big comic book nerd, I feel a little weird having a Marvel show and a DC show back-to-back, but then again, I grew up with my dad watching Incredible Hulk and Wonder Woman reruns on Saturday afternoons and seeing one after the other wasn’t weird, so maybe it’s not here. Gifted can help Gotham, a show that is of course entering its fourth season, and a shift to the later hour doesn’t seem like it would be too much or too bad of a leap for the show. I do wonder, though, if we’ll get a full 22 episode season for Gotham; maybe that’s what has been holding up negotiations for an official renewal. FOX has things like X-Files to schedule, after all.
