Most Surprising Renewal: As I mentioned, I was surprised that Scream Queens was renewed, considering it probably didn’t come cheap and ratings weren’t that great. I might actually be surprised if one of Grandfathered or The Grinder do come back, but I still prepared for that notion in my schedule. Covering all bases here!
Show That Likely Won’t Be Renewed But Should Be: I feel like this TV season has given us too many shows that are being renewed when they probably don’t deserve it anyway, so I’m going to just say “I’m good.” Do some shows not yet renewed deserve to come back, creatively? Sure. But at a certain point, you can’t renew everything. Sorry, FOX shows not yet renewed.
Possible Scheduling Disaster: Sequel series 24: Legacy and Prison Break, while highly anticipated, could possibly not live up to the originals and therefore disappoint. I’m pretty sure, though, that both will be okay. But then again, I was excited for Heroes Reborn, so what do I know?
Possible Biggest Surprise: 24: Legacy could be as big of a hit as Kiefer Sutherland’s series and the surprising thing would be if it’s even bigger. If scheduled well — you know, like pairing with Empire — it could be quite impactful on the entire FOX landscape.
Safest Bet: 24: Legacy. I know I keep going back to that, and even admit it could possibly be a miss, but I’m pretty sure FOX will schedule and market it well and it will at the very least be sampled.
Project I’m Rooting For: I know this is the world’s most boring answer, but I’m really not sure. Nothing in FOX’s development this year really has me saying “I MUST SEE THIS.” Of course, it’s usually those seasons where there’s nothing that I am thrilled about, that they create something thrilling for me to enjoy.
