CRAIG: Is Grimm now a solid foundation for NBC on Fridays?
SHILO: I think that as long as NBC treats Grimm well, Grimm will perform for them. The times in its run where it’s looked a bit peaked have all been the result of scheduling abnormalities (e.g. its second season beginning in August on Mondays and forcing a 3-4 month mid-season hiatus), but for a show facing one of the hottest on TV in Shark Tank and close competition in Hawaii Five-0, it’s still pretty sturdy. Should NBC find a syndication home for the supernatural procedural, which is heading into its fourth season this fall, it might be able to hold down the fort on Fridays for another few seasons and give the network the opportunity to have a scripted presence on a typically tough night.
There are some encouraging signs for Grimm going into its fourth season, as the show gets a more compatible lead-out in DC Comic-based Constantine and returns to the late October premiere window that helped launch it in the first place. It’s still not powerful enough to deal with Shark Tank or surprise like it did with its series premiere, but there’s no reason that Grimm can’t continue being a solid piece of NBC’s lineup for seasons to come.

BATB is not an 8pm show, though. The tone fits 9pm.
Still miss Dracula. Want more Crossbones. Still think the CW should confine reality shows to summer.
