Most Surprising (Possible) Renewal: Just about everything else has been renewed, so I’ll have to mention the only show that hasn’t been: Containment. I’d love to get more of the Chris Wood-David Gyasi starrer from Julie Plec on the schedule, but the “Limited Series” notation makes me think it might not happen. Still, a second “Limited Series” wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. (P.S.: Watch Containment, everybody!)
Show That Likely Won’t Be Renewed But Should Be: See also, Containment.
Possible Scheduling Disaster: Monday nights could end up in 0.3 land in the demo and that’s just not good. How low can those ratings go to the point where Golden Globes can’t justify the series’ continuation?
Possible Biggest Surprise: The biggest surprise for me will be if any show not called Riverdale turns into being the biggest hit, kind of like that year when The CW put all their stock in Melrose Place but then The Vampire Diaries was their big winner. (Side note: That was 7 years ago, already?)
Safest Bet: The Flash will continue to be The CW’s safest bet. As long as the writing stays good and Grant Gustin and that talented supporting cast of his continue to be awesome, I’m in. It’s also a safe bet that we’ll see a crossover with Arrow and probably Legends next year, which is another reason to assume Legends will be back in the fall rather than at midseason.
Project I’m Rooting For: Riverdale. Have you SEEN how hot that cast is? Also, if Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s Afterlife With Archie and Mark Waid’s Archie reboot are any indicators, it will be really well written.

What I wish is that they would go back to early(er) September premieres. I’ve had this feeling for a while that too many people are already hooked into their nightly schedules by the time The CW premieres come. Getting out of the gate first would breed loyalty.
It would be a great thing, although it’s rare for a show to have more than 9 or 10 episodes done before December, which is what they usually run all the way through to before reruns. If they started filming sooner, that would be a great solution.
Though, that also brings up the other problem CW viewers especially seem to have, and that is breaks. If people think three-week breaks between episodes in March are bad imagine what happens if they have to stretch 22-23 episodes between September and May.
Maybe, though, with so many shows on the schedule, they’ll have to start a little earlier.
