WEDNESDAY
CRAIG: 8:00 Arrow; 9:00 Supernatural
SHILO:Â 8:00 Arrow; 9:00 Supernatural
CRAIG:Â Again, I’m being conservative because the past few times we did this scheduling thing, I totally guessed wrong in some cases. Here, Arrow and Supernatural just works. For some weird reason, I suspect Season 12 might not even be the end for Jensen and Jared. At this rate, they’ll be doing this show when they’re both 40. As for Arrow, it seems to have held its timeslot very well for the past 4 years, so why change it?
SHILO: The only way that I would mess with Wednesdays is if you utilize Supernatural as a 9:00 lead-out for a compatible new 8:00 show. If, say, Transylvania gets slotted onto Thursdays at 8:00, having Supernatural at 9:00 and Legends of Tomorrow Wednesdays at 9:00 wouldn’t be the worst option. Granted, Supernatural is The CW’s oldest show and has proven resilient against Empire, but Legends would have crossover boosts and the audience synergy that comes with airing spin-offs with motherships, so what declines it would face in moving would be negated, or mostly negated, by what it would gain by being with Arrow.
Plus, Arrow hasn’t been a great lead-in for The CW, so they wouldn’t have to worry about a new show behind it if Legends were, for whatever reason, pushed to Wednesdays. And they would still be able to air longer seasons of Legends thanks to starting it in the fall, which is good for the network bank account.
Otherwise, Arrow and Supernatural are a great pairing that feed off of one another on a tough night, so I don’t really see a need to break them up without something even more perfectly matched waiting to slot in at 9:00.

What I wish is that they would go back to early(er) September premieres. I’ve had this feeling for a while that too many people are already hooked into their nightly schedules by the time The CW premieres come. Getting out of the gate first would breed loyalty.
It would be a great thing, although it’s rare for a show to have more than 9 or 10 episodes done before December, which is what they usually run all the way through to before reruns. If they started filming sooner, that would be a great solution.
Though, that also brings up the other problem CW viewers especially seem to have, and that is breaks. If people think three-week breaks between episodes in March are bad imagine what happens if they have to stretch 22-23 episodes between September and May.
Maybe, though, with so many shows on the schedule, they’ll have to start a little earlier.
