FURTHER THOUGHTS FROM CRAIG
Most Surprising (Possible) Renewal: Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. On the one hand, I could see them wanting to play nice with Sony; on the other… it’s not doing too well, especially considering the show’s pedigree.
Show That Likely Won’t Be Renewed But Should Be: I could see it happening where 2 Broke Girls isn’t renewed, and as someone who proudly admits to watching that show, that would be a shame, because as bawdy and raunchy as the show gets, I do enjoy it. If we lived in a world where The CW aired half-hour comedies I could totally see it moving there; but since it’s not, let’s just remember that this show has lasted so many years at a time CBS has had a lot of high-profile comedy failures.
Possible Scheduling Disaster: I keep saying it: I don’t think Big Bang and Young Sheldon should be on back-to-back. I kind of don’t think Young Sheldon should be a thing while Big Bang is still on the air, even, but there seems to be a lot of talent involved, including the real-life daughter of Laurie Metcalf playing a younger version of Metcalf’s character as Sheldon’s mom. That’s pretty cool.
Possible Biggest Surprise: CBS could go all-in on Saturdays. Considering Ransom and Training Day didn’t do all that great there, I doubt it, but if anyone could pull it off, it would be CBS, it would be surprising, and I’d really love to see it happen.
Safest Bet: CBS probably still won’t take any risks in the diversity department, beyond Shemar Moore in S.W.A.T., yet they still will do really well in total viewers.
Project I’m Rooting For: I’m really not sure. I’d be lying if I said I’m not at least curious about how Young Sheldon will turn out.
