    cbs 2 broke girlsMIDSEASON MUSINGS

SHILO: Even with two new comedies in the fall and a pretty full slate, I could see CBS picking up one more comedy for backup. Buzz seems to point toward cop comedy Brothered Up, which would go a way toward silencing critics of the network’s lack of racial inclusivity. Where they’re supposed to be in the market for four dramas next season, they’ll do two more to go along with the two new dramas they’ll have premiering in the fall; the buzz says that they’ll be Wisdom of the Crowd, which is of the APB/Pure Genius ilk, and Noah Wyle-starrer Perfect Citizen. In terms of pickups for existing shows, they could maybe swing a shortened final season of 2 Broke Girls if they’re not satisfied with their comedy development and want a known quantity as a backup, but that’d involve some financial gymnastics that we’re not privy to. That could be right on the cusp of happening or that could be impossible as of right now; your guess is as good as mine.

CRAIG: I’m not sure about Wisdom of the Crowd since it sounds too much like shows that haven’t done too well in the recent past. I am sure, though, that if CBS and Warner Bros. can iron it out, I think 2 Broke Girls would be decent midseason replacement material if and when something goes badly. The Get sounds pretty interesting too though it sounds more like an ABC show; it also might hit too close to home at a time where our White House Administration is painting journalists as Public Enemy No. 1.
