A few weeks ago here on KSiteTV, two of us (Craig Byrne and Shilo Adams) posted predictions on what we thought NBC might do with their Fall 2015 schedule. Then, on May 10, NBC released the actual schedule, revealing and confirming where certain network favorites might land.
Now, continuing a KSiteTV tradition, we’re offering our analysis of this year’s lineup. It’s a little later than we usually go, but that’s probably a good thing, since NBC made a change as recently as this morning, benching Heartbreaker to midseason to accommodate Melissa George’s pregnancy. You can read last year’s NBC analysis article here.
Let’s get started, shall we?
MONDAY:
SHILO’s PREDICTIONS: 8:00 The Voice; 10:00 Chicago Med
CRAIG’s PREDICTIONS: 8:00 The Voice; 10:00 Blindspot
ACTUAL SCHEDULE: 8:00 The Voice; 10:00 Blindspot
SHILO: Given that NBC basically has the 10:00 hour to themselves, pretty much any new show they could’ve put here would get high marks from me. But NBC probably made the best choice in drafting Greg Berlanti’s Blindspot, a Blacklist-y procedural with the type of serial underpinning that should keep its audience fairly young. I still don’t know if this is the type of show that could keep it together creatively for multiple seasons, specifically whether the show will be able to balance its procedural and serialized selves and keep its serialized storyline coherent and engaging, but it should be a tremendous improvement over The Night Shift and State of Affairs and something that allows NBC to focus its attention on rebuilding other nights.
CRAIG: I called this one, and I think Blindspot will be a lot more like The Blacklist on Mondays at 10 and a whole lot less like State of Affairs. In other words, I think they gave the post-Voice time slot to the right show.
