TUESDAY:
SHILO: 8:00 The Voice; 9:00 Not Safe For Work; 9:30 Undateable; 10:00 Chicago Fire

CRAIG: 8:00 The Voice; 9:00 Telenovela; 9:30 Undateable; 10:00 Chicago Fire
ACTUAL SCHEDULE: 8:00 The Voice; 9:00 Chicago Med; 10:00 Best Week Ever With Neil Patrick Harris, then Chicago Fire
CRAIG: Although I’m a lot more hopeful for Chicago Med than I am for Heartbreaker, I’m still perplexed by NBC’s Tuesday plan, putting Neil Patrick Harris at 10. Maybe they see the variety show as a great news lead-in, but I would it would serve better as a Voice lead-out. I’m also surprised that they’re holding back Chicago Fire from premiering when the season begins, which might have been a better choice than rushing Chicago Med onto the air.
SHILO: Yeah, with NBC hyping up Best Time Ever for months, I thought the show’s purpose was going to be funneling live viewers to scripted properties. NBC has a thin scripted slate and going with something big, splashy, and family friendly like this seemed like a way to help solve that problem. Instead, it feels a bit like a wasted opportunity, even though the show will likely have a much better lead-in from new 9:00 occupant Chicago Med vs. Heartbreaker, the latter having been delayed to midseason. But despite Best Time Ever not being left to die on the vine, if Chicago Med does find a strong audience following The Voice, is NBC content with that crowd going into something that’s A) unscripted and B) not produced in-house? Tuesdays will be better as a whole with Chicago Med, yet relegating Best Time Ever to 10:00 and delaying Chicago Fire to November are decisions that I still can’t get behind.
