We are now a week removed from the last of the 2014-2015 TV season schedule announcements, and following our predictions posted a few weeks ago, it is time now to revive another KSiteTV tradition, as we look at how the schedules turned out and how well (or not) the networks did, and how well (or not) we did at predicting what would come.
“We” here are, of course, Shilo Adams and Craig Byrne of KSiteTV.
Since ABC was the first network we posted predictions for (you can see what we predicted at the start of each day’s section), we’ll start with ABC here too. Enjoy:
SUNDAY
Shilo’s Picks: 7:00 America’s Funniest Videos, 8:00 Once Upon A Time, 9:00 Resurrection, 10:00 Revenge
Craig’s Picks: 7:00 America’s Funniest Videos, 8:00 Once Upon A Time, 9:00 Resurrection/Clementine, 10:00 Revenge
Actual Schedule: 7:00 America’s Funniest Videos, 8:00 Once Upon A Time, 9:00 Resurrection, 10:00 Revenge
SHILO: ABC probably made the correct call in keeping their Sundays as they were this spring. The night was one of the few the network had momentum by the end of the season and airing Resurrection in highly-viewed fall with very little in the way of hiatus should give it a much needed boost. However, word is that the show will have 16-ish episodes next season, which is too much for a show with this concept, especially since Resurrection dropped nearly every week after its huge debut. This is the type of show they should nurture and if they don’t give it the chance it deserves, their Sundays will go from one of their more promising nights to a trouble spot in no time.
CRAIG: Once ABC finally had Resurrection in the middle of the Once Upon A Time/Revenge sandwich, things seemed to go much better for them. We shall see what happens once any of those puzzle pieces are replaced at midseason, but I think the Fall will, at least, get things off to a good start.
Later in the season…I’m not so sure Galavant will work as a midseason show, and I find it odd that they’d be double-pumping a half hour back to back like they’re planning to do. We’ll see, I guess. It looks like a show that people will either really love, or really hate.
Finally, with Resurrection, I actually do think it could sustain a 22-episode season if the schedule demands it. But I admit total bias because I love the show, and I hope any ratings fall in the Spring was just a result of so darn much being on and distracting at midseason.
