Craig’s Picks: 8:00 Dateline NBC, 9:00 Grimm, 10:00 Constantine
Shilo’s Picks: 8:00 Dateline NBC, 9:00 Grimm, 10:00 Constantine
Actual Schedule: 8:00 Dateline NBC, 9:00 Grimm, 10:00 Constantine
CRAIG: I think this will be an enjoyable night, and I’m so glad NBC is putting Constantine on where it’s going. It does raise the question where Hannibal Season 3 will land, but we’ll worry about that at midseason, right? Constantine won’t have the buzz of Gotham or The Flash, but I think, like Grimm, it will be a consistent player for NBC… or at the very least, I hope so. NBC could have something really good here.
SHILO: I think this is about as good a Friday as NBC could’ve asked for. Constantine looks like a much more compatible partner for Grimm than Dracula or Hannibal were and assuming NBC can inflate the Grimm premiere number to a reasonable level, it could end up with some solid sampling and prove to be competitive with 20/20 and Blue Bloods. The main thing that NBC must do, though, is find a better way to schedule Grimm, as it’s on-off airing pattern last season cut any chance of gaining ratings momentum off at the knees. Therefore, a premiere sometime in October with a planned, short hiatus in the middle of the season and little to no additional repeats should keep the show as NBC’s Friday crown jewel for another season.
