The fourth season premiere of Once Upon A Time airs this Sunday night, September 28, and earlier this week, ABC hosted a fantastic premiere event and screening where we were able to see the first episode of the season a little bit early.
Titled “A Tale of Two Sisters,” the season premiere picks up very soon after where the previous season left off… Emma and Hook have finished their travel through time; Maid Marian’s life has been spared, which doesn’t make Regina too happy; and a fan-favorite character from the hit movie Frozen has shown up in Storybrooke with a trail of ice in her wake.
We all know that Once Upon A Time is one of those shows where the enjoyment is based on the story arc of any given season or half-season. So far, this Season 4 arc looks like it could be interesting fun.
Want some spoiler teases? Here you go:
Maid Marian’s reaction. In the Season 3 finale, Emma and Hook saved Maid Marian’s life, and of course, she was supposed to have been killed by Regina, who had gotten close to her widower, Robin Hood. But now Maid Marian’s back — and while we saw a little bit of how Regina responded to that in the finale last year, the bigger response is how Maid Marian reacts to the town actually being nice to Regina. Isn’t she the Evil Queen? What is wrong with people?!?! In any event, Robin Hood and Regina do have a talk about this, too.
Regina’s friends. Showing how much the series has changed in three years, people are concerned about how Regina is reacting to all of this — and not just because they are afraid of what an Evil Queen tantrum would be like. Emma and Henry are the ones most affected by this, who try the most to reach out to her. Regina, meanwhile, escapes to an old friend in the mirror who hasn’t been on the show in a while. (You can see a photo of him to your right. RIP Tom Neville)
Emma’s walls. Regina isn’t the only one isolating herself. There is so much going on that Emma again retreats into a distracted, protected mode. Hook does try to break through her walls, and she does talk about her feelings for him, whatever they may be.
Rumpbelle. There are some romantic moments between the newlywed Belle and Rumpelstiltskin, but how well they do together probably will depend on if he tells her about that dagger or not.
Anna and Elsa. You did know that characters from Frozen are in the series premiere, right? Anna and Elsa are not the only ones. There are one or two that you probably didn’t expect to see in live action… and not all of them are in the promotional photos, either.
The effects are getting better. There’s a monster that runs down the streets of Storybrooke, and the effects look pretty sweet.
A famous Disney song is heard. And if you guessed it’d be “Let It Go,” you would have guessed wrong.
The original Neal is not forgotten. There’s a baby Neal on the show, but don’t worry, the life of Neal Cassidy is also not forgotten.

ONCE UPON A TIME - "A Tale of Two Sisters" - A scared and confused Elsa finds herself in Storybrooke and, fearful of the intentions of its residents, creates a powerful snow monster for protection. With Robin Hood's wife, Marian, back in the picture, Regina wonders if her "happily ever after" with the former thief has been completely quashed; while on their honeymoon, Mr. Gold finds an intriguing object that makes him question whether or not he should officially give Belle control over the dagger that makes him The Dark One, and Hook is dismayed to discover that Emma seems to be avoiding him while she tries to help comfort Regina after being the one responsible for bringing Marian back from the past and into Storybrooke. Meanwhile, in Arendelle of the past, as Elsa's sister Anna's wedding to Kristoff nears, Anna discovers that their parents - who died on-ship during a violent storm - were heading to a mysterious destination in a quest that may have held the secret to containing Elsa's out of control Ice powers. And against Elsa's wishes, Anna wants to finish their journey to find out what they were looking for, on "Once Upon a Time," SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
