AMC has announced that horror drama NOS4A2 has been given a 10-episode straight-to-series order.
“NOS4A2 continues in AMC’s rich tradition of immersive dramas that combine otherworldly stories with relatable relationships and big emotional themes,” said David Madden, president of original programming for AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. “Jami O’Brien and the writing team have vibrantly brought Joe Hill’s incredible story to life for the small screen and we are pleased to be making this diabolically unique new show under the AMC Studios shingle, in association with Tornante.”
Based on the Joe Hill novel of the same name, NOS4A2 tells the story of working class artist Vic McQueen, who discovers an ability that allows her to see supernatural child abductor Charlie Manx. With Manx feeding on the souls of the children he nabs, depositing what remains in the ghoulish Christmasland of his imagination, McQueen must use her newfound ability to bring him down and exact justice for those he’s already harmed. But will she be able to defeat this seemingly immortal maniac without losing her mind in the process?
With the inclusion of NOS4A2, AMC’s drama slate now includes the likes of The Walking Dead, Humans, Into the Badlands, Better Call Saul, and The Terror. This summer will see the introduction of Marti Noxon dramedy Dietland.
NOS4A2 is set to premiere in 2019 on AMC.
Will you be watching? For those who’ve read the novel, who do you think should be cast as Vic and Charlie? Do you think the culmination of Vic vs. Charlie should occur in the first season or would you rather the entire series chronicle their battle?
