Today as part of the Television Critics Association Press Tour, Warner Bros. Television hosted a special studio day with spotlights on their acclaimed comedy series. Press was able to visit the sets of several shows, including Night Court, where the cast and producers made some important guest star announcements for the rest of the season!
First, the original show was known for its crazy recurring characters who’d appear in the courtroom, and some of the most famous or infamous were the Wheelers, June and Bob, played by Maggie O’Donnell and Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Brent Spiner. They’re back in an upcoming episode, and this time, they have a grown-up daughter played by Kate Micucci. Of the recurring players from the original Night Court, the Wheelers were surely the most requested and anticipated, and now it’s going to happen!
Also in the “always appreciated to see” file is Marsha Warfield. Her character Roz from the original show appeared in two episodes already, and now, she’ll be back for the Season 2 finale! Warfield and John Larroquette are the only two surviving long-running cast members from the classic Night Court series, though Karen Austin and the pilot episode’s Gail Strickland are still alive and out there somewhere. Audiences generally seem to feel the cast finally had that perfect mixture of characters, though, once Marsha Warfield joined the company.
If those aren’t enough — the panel also revealed that Melissa Fumero, Ryan Hansen, and Julia Sweeney are all expected to show up before the end of the show’s second season.
Night Court airs Tuesdays on NBC.
