NBC Cancels 5 Shows Ahead Of Fall Upfronts Announcement

The NBC Grim Reaper made its moves today, with several series falling under the axe.

First, Suits L.A. has apparently failed its city. While it had a solid opening and had even picked up a little, the Stephen Amell-starring show set in the Suits universe is done after Season 1. This probably won’t dissuade NBC from doing more updates to USA “blue skies” shows, but it can’t help either. But hey… now fans have 13 more episodes of Suits to watch on streaming, sort of!

Another high-profile show sequel is also now out of session: Night Court is done at 3 seasons, which is a shame, because it was Season 4 with the addition of Roz that the original 1980s series started cooking. While it’s taken time to find the right cast, and they’ve had some great additions in later seasons like Nyambi Nyambi as Wyatt and Wendie Malick as Juliette, the show is produced by an outside studio which surely couldn’t have helped. Now how are we ever going to learn how Harry Stone had a daughter who is now old enough to be a judge but didn’t seem to be around back in the 1980s!

Found and The Irrational are also now two-season wonders. The shows starred such folks as Shanola Hampton and Jesse L. Martin, and they won’t be back on NBC after their current seasons. Finally, the George Lopez-starring Lopez vs. Lopez is also done… all of this surely to make room for NBA basketball on NBC in the future.

NBC is expected to announce their 2025-2026 schedule in the coming days. It is said that the studios behind some of these series will shop them around, but we know that doesn’t happen all too often, especially these days when studios are cutting costs wherever they can.
