Deadline is reporting that DirecTV’s Audience Network will premiere Stephen King drama Mr. Mercedes on Wednesday, August 9th at 8:00.
Developed for television by David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies) and based on the King novel of the same name, Mr. Mercedes tells the story of the cat-and-mouse relationship between demented killer Brady Hartsfield (Harry Treadaway) and retired police detective Bill Hodges (Brendan Gleeson). With Hartsfield continually taunting Hodges through the use of lurid letters and emails, Hodges is forced to undertake the dangerous task of bringing a killer to justice once and for all.
In addition to Treadaway and Gleeson, Mr. Mercedes stars Kelly Lynch (Magic City), Jharrel Jerome (Moonlight), Breeda Wool (UnREAL), Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds), and Holland Taylor (Two and a Half Men). The series is one of two Stephen King adaptations in development, with Hulu’s Castle Rock announcing its first bit of casting today.
Mr. Mercedes joins a scripted slate for Audience that includes Ice, Rogue, and You Me Her.
