Deadline is reporting that Freeform pilot Misfits has added Dave Foley (Dr. Ken) and Hung‘s Charlie Saxton to its cast of series regulars. Foley will be playing clumsy Bernie, a disheveled uber driver who hasn’t evolved with the times, while Saxton is set as Simon, an intelligent outcast who has difficulties forming meaningful relationships with the other teenagers he meets at community service.
Based on the acclaimed British series of the same name and developed for American television by Diane Ruggiero-Wright (iZombie), Misfits follows a group of five teenagers involved in the same community service program as they get hit by a lightning storm and discover that they now have supernatural abilities.
In addition to his time on the recently cancelled ABC comedy, Foley’s television credits include Newsradio, The New Adventures of Old Christine, and The Kids in the Hall, while Saxton has been seen on the likes of Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life, Betas, and New Girl. They join a cast that features Ashleigh LaThrop, Tre Hall, Allie MacDonald, and Jake Cannavale.
Production on the Misfits pilot is currently ongoing, with a decision as to whether it’ll be picked up to series to come either later this year or early next.
