Entertainment Weekly is reporting that The Lying Game alum Blair Redford has been cast in FOX’s Bryan Singer-produced Marvel pilot, which currently doesn’t have a working title.
The series follows two parents who discover their children possess mutant powers and find themselves forced to go on the run from a hostile government. In order to ensure the survival of their children, the parents join an underground network of mutants and use the knowledge gained to keep the government at bay. The first person cast in the project, Redford will be playing Sam, the strong-headed Native American leader of the network that becomes a key support system for the children.
In addition to his time on the (much missed) ABC Family soap, Redford has appeared on the likes of Switched at Birth, Satisfaction, and The Red Road.
Among the other executive producers on the project are creator Matt Nix (Burn Notice), Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD), and Lauren Shuler Donner (Legion). To go along with his producer duties, Singer is also attached to direct the pilot.
FOX should be making its series order decisions in the weeks leading up to upfronts this May. Considering the auspices involved, the Marvel brand name, and FOX’s embrace of genre programming, it wouldn’t be a shock to see this project get a series order later this spring.
Would you watch a Marvel series on FOX? Who else would you like to see star in something like this? Are you glad to see Redford back on television?
