The Magnum P.I. reboot starring Jay Hernandez and Perdita Weeks, which was canceled by CBS back in May, is getting a new lease on life… actually, two leases, as trades are reporting that NBC has picked up the series for Season 5 and Season 6 with the option for more.
Right now, it looks as though both of the new seasons will be for only ten episodes each, but considering the ratings Magnum P.I. brought to CBS, more would definitely not be a surprise. This isn’t the first “save” NBC has made that surely has a relationship to show ownership — a few years back, NBC rescued Brooklyn Nine-Nine from FOX.
No word yet on when Season 5 will start airing, but it does seem as though the actors in the cast are soon to return to Hawaii, if social media is any indication.
