More Luke Cage casting news from Deadline…
The site is reporting that Simone Missick has landed the young female lead role in the upcoming Marvel/Netflix Luke Cage series… and it’s a prominent Marvel character!
Missick is said to be playing Misty Knight. Misty is a former NYPD officer with a bionic arm. Deadline mentions the arm comes from Tony Stark, so maybe there will be that connection/mention to the Marvel cinematic universe. Misty has most been associated with Iron Fist, Daughters of the Dragon, and Heroes for Hire comic books. She first appeared in an Iron Fist story in Marvel Premiere, though continuity retroactively also placed her in Marvel Team-Up issue #1 featuring Spider-Man and the Human Torch. In the comic books, Misty is romantically involved with Danny Rand a.k.a. Iron Fist, and it wouldn’t surprise us if she shows up in his series if it is still happening.
If those connections aren’t enough, for a while in the comics Misty was roommates with Jean Grey of the X-Men.
Netflix has yet to confirm a premiere date for Marvel’s Luke Cage.
