Hulu has released the trailer for upcoming dramedy Love, Victor and in it, we see a young man undergoing the journey to self-actualization and, hopefully, self-love.
Inspired by and set in the same world as 2018 film Love, Simon, itself based on Becky Albertalli novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, Love, Victor follows 16-year-old Victor (Michael Cimino), the new kid at Creekwood High School as he begins the process of forming his identity. Along the way, he’ll face challenges at home, deal with having to find his tribe at school, and explore his sexuality. When it all becomes too much to handle, and when he realizes he’s lacking in people he can truly be himself around, he reaches out to Simon for help.
In addition to Cimino, the series stars Ana Ortiz (Devious Maids) as Victor’s mother Isabel, who’s under a lot of pressure after moving to a new city; James Martinez (House of Cards) as Victor’s blue-collar father Armando; Isabella Ferreira (Orange is the New Black) as Victor’s sister Pilar; newcomer Mateo Fernandez as Victor’s brother Adrian; Rachel Naomi Hilson (This Is Us) as Mia, Victor’s intelligent, good-natured friend; Bebe Wood (The Real O’Neals) as Victor’s social media-obsessed friend Lake; George Sear (Will) as Victor’s confident classmate Benji; , Anthony Turpel (The Bold and the Beautiful) as Felix, Victor’s awkward new neighbor; and Mason Gooding (Booksmart) as Andrew, the cocky, popular jock at Creekwood.
Love, Victor is set to premiere Friday, June 19th on Hulu.
