The upcoming Disney+ streaming service is mining some familiar IP for Love, Simon, based on the Greg Berlanti-directed film of the same name. Michael Cimino (Annabelle Comes Home) has been cast in the lead role of “Victor.”
This time it is a regular series, and Nick Robinson from the original Love, Simon movie will be narrating. Here’s how Deadline describes the project:
Set in the world of the film, the series follows Victor (Cimino), a new student at Creekwood High School on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city, and struggling with his sexual orientation. When it all seems too much, he reaches out to Simon to help him navigate the ups and downs of high school.
The cast also includes Ana Ortiz as Isabel, Victor’s “smart and warm” mother; James Martinez as his “guy’s guy” father; Isabella Ferriera as Victor’s sister Pilar; and Mateo Fernandez as his little brother. The series also stars Johnny Sequoyah as Victor’s witty friend Mia, Bebe Wood as Mia’s social media obsessed best friend Lake, George Sear as Benji, Anthony Turpel as Felix, and Mason Gooding as Andrew.
Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who co-wrote the movie, will be executive producing and showrunning the new series together.
