The CW Renews Several Shows For Another Season

The CW Network has announced that they have renewed their series The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, 90210, Supernatural and America’s Next Top Model for the 2010-2011 fall season.

Still not confirmed are future seasons of Smallville, One Tree Hill, or Life Unexpected.

UPDATE: Since this article was originally posted, Smallville HAS now been renewed for an additional year. You can read that press release here.

Here’s the press release about the initial renewals:

The CW Network has given early pickups to five series for next season, including four signature dramas and the reality hit AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL. All five shows will return in Fall 2010.

The series receiving early renewals include this season’s breakout hit THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, The CW’s most-watched show (4.6 million viewers) and the network’s number one show among adults 18-34 (2.5/8). THE VAMPIRE DIARIES premiere generated the largest audience in network history for a series debut (5.7 million total viewers). THE VAMPIRE DIARIES has improved The CW’s performance Thursday at 8:00 p.m. by 114% among women 18-34 this season. The network also renewed fan favorite SUPERNATURAL, which will enter its sixth season next year. SUPERNATURAL has one of the most loyal audiences of any show on television and does heroic work in a perennially tough time period. It has improved over last season among women and adults 18-34 (29% and 8%, respectively) this season, a remarkable accomplishment for a fifth-year show.

Also given early pickups for next season are The CW’s Monday night sensation GOSSIP GIRL,which is The CW’s number one show among its target demographic of women 18-34, and Tuesday’s trend-setting drama, 90210, which sees some of TV’s largest percent increases from DVR playback, nearly doubling its women 18-34 live-only ratings once live+7 data is included. Wednesday anchor AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL will also be back for cycles 15 and 16 with superstar Tyra Banks and new groups of aspiring models. AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL continues to rank second in the competitive Wednesday 8:00 p.m. hour among young women 18-34 (3.4/10).

CW showing no respect to Smallville or their fans, once again. It’s getting tiresome. Thank god for the WB or else Smallville would have been gone year ago.

    2. Robb1388 on Feb 16, 2010 10:59 am

Does anyone else feel that Smallville has gone downhill?
Originally the show was pretty good. Fun story-lines. Good characters. A variety of good special effects and excellent music. But in the past few years since the original creators left the show it has become sub-par. It has more of a feel of a Saturday morning children’s show. The story-lines are weak. The music is generic and the special effects feel like a cheap photo shop. They need to get back to the basics. Otherwise their target audience will be 7-11 year olds.

    3. Jay on Feb 16, 2010 11:24 am

Smallville is one of the great shows on TV. The CW should pick it up for another season. It is a no brainer

    4. Glenn on Feb 16, 2010 12:06 pm

Come on CW…Smallville has been a great show for the fans and for the network, and has more than earned a 10th and final season!!

Robb, I disagree…yes, the show in seasons 7 had some serious hiccups (not to mention a couple of episodes in season 8–bringing Lana back was a mistake). Nonetheless, the show has definitely matured along with the characters — they have made the show as real as fantasy can be. Just look at the development of the characters and of the relationships of the characters. What I will admit is that the show as become more romance driven than truly super hero driven this season (and last season), because of the growing relationship of Lois and Clark, but it was inevitable, and seems to be what fans (yes, even this one) were longing for.

I also think that the special effects have gotten better over the seasons, especially for a television show.

What I would hope is that if (I mean “when”) a 10th season is approved, then it will move back into a super hero driven series, with a dash (or more) of romance thrown in…I mean Lois is a big part of the Superman mythos.

    5. Welling4Superman on Feb 16, 2010 12:27 pm

The CW will bring Smallville on for a 10th season (period).

    6. aaron on Feb 16, 2010 12:42 pm

I’ve watched Smallville for the last 7 years. I have all the sets and have seen every show. This is the only show my family watches on the CW, if they don’t renew it then the CW will be deleted from all the tv’s in the house. Smallville is the one show that the whole family watches together no matter what. Smallville has gotten better as the season’s go by. If the CW want’s to lose viewer’s so be it but they have nothing else worth watching in our families opinion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      KEEP SMALLVILLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OR THE CW CAN GO STRAIGHT TO H!!!

    7. Jay on Feb 16, 2010 12:48 pm

The CW would be foolish if they did not give Smallville a final season. They moved it to the death slot and it almost doubled the ratings they expected. There is absolutely no way they could place anything else in that slot and hope that it gets even half of the numbers. Also, they should know that canning a series in the 9th season without allowing the show to close itself is suicide. If they feel smallville is done, fine, but you have FINISH the series that has helped keep the CW above water for the past decade. Lets go season 10!

    8. smallville on Feb 16, 2010 1:36 pm

Are you kidding me??!! If season 9 is the final season then we will only see the clois relationship for half a season?! and lana and clark had the whole of season 7 to them but clois only get half of season 9? no i will actually loose faith in the cw if they don’t renew smallville for next year.
Smallville is my favourite show coz it is different then the other shows on the CW because they are all about living in America and hogh school and relationships and about how much money you have whuch I love watching but Smallville is about superman, no they can’t do this to us!

    9. Ross on Feb 16, 2010 1:56 pm

I have to agree with Glenn. Smallville definitely had hiccups in Seasons 7 and 8. Season 7 felt like Clark had taken ten big steps backward when Lana came back.

I had actually lost a little faith in the show after season 7. I came back for season 8 and it was mostly great, except for the season finale and Lana. I loved the “Legion” episode. Season 9 has been great so far. I think Smallville has at least earned one more season. But at least Supernatural has been renewed. That’s my second favorite show on the CW.

    10. RedK on Feb 16, 2010 2:03 pm

Like I just posted on the forums, I’m suspecting that there is just one thing holding the officials from signing the contract. What is it? I don’t know. But, I’m not worried as much as I was.

    11. Chloe 22 on Feb 16, 2010 3:07 pm

It’s not a surprise for me. The producers don’t respect The fans of Chloe. They destroy her character and the Chlark for the Clois. Chloe and Clark are the soul of Smallville during 8 years.
The assasination of a belove character is a big mistake and it’s not necessary.
Smallville like to destroy belove characters. After Lana, it’s Chloe.

    12. Reggie on Feb 16, 2010 3:08 pm

Seriously CW?? Smallville is their longest running (including the WB) show and is doing great even after they moved it to one of the WORST time slots ever!! Since they got new writers the show got sense of freshness back into it. Canceling it after this season would be a big mistake in my opinion! 90210 and America’s Next Top Model but no Smallville……major fail!

    13. Howey on Feb 16, 2010 3:26 pm

now, if this is all to set the SV fans up for a “BIG” announcement then fine. but how “BIG” becomes the question. Rosenbaum back? Lois and Clark and Perry (michael mckean) at the main floor of the Daily Planet. The Suit?

If, it’s the end…I hope the studio execs are proud of themselves for completely screwing up the fanboy demographic for the next few years. I also, know the female demos were tuning in for the steamy Lois/Clark and new romance brewing Ollie and Chloe.

So I guess I just don’t get the disrespect, someone help me to understand the logic.

    14. Brian on Feb 16, 2010 3:49 pm

I cant believe that the CW would wait on giving Smallville a Season 10. As has been said in the numerous posts before it has thrived on the Friday night slot which would kill most other shows.
This season has been great so far and to not let this finish off properly by going out on its own terms it is ridiculous.
CW please bring back Smallville for Season 10!!!

    15. Sasafrass452 on Feb 16, 2010 4:05 pm

I’ll be sad to see Smallville end, whether it’s this yr or next, but I can’t really blame The CW…. 9 yrs is a LOOOONG time, & I’ll bet Tom Welling is ready to move on. If this is the last season, I hope we at least get to see Clark in the suit…. remember the drawing that boy gave him last week? Hint, hint…. Either way, we pretty much know where the story goes from here, unless the writers go in a totally different direction, which isn’t likely. Look at it this way…. Clark has been working at the Daily Planet, he’s falling in love with Lois, & he’s an arm’s length from putting on the suit. Like I said, we all know what happens next…. Remember, this show was about his pre-superman years, & that time is almost up. I’m as big of a fan as anyone here, but personally, I won’t fight to keep it on the air if The CW decides to cancel it this yr. Honestly, how much longer can they keep it going? If they renew it, great! I’ll be happy to tune in next fall. But if not, I’m ok with that, too.

    16. asmo64 on Feb 16, 2010 4:14 pm

we should start a email campaign just so the execs know how popular the show is even if they did put it in the deathslot on fridays

    17. Kal-El on Feb 16, 2010 4:23 pm

I believe in SMALLVILLE! The cast and crew have made the last two season the best in years. This year is the best yet and the only mythos of Superman that is the most real for me. I don’t know if I can go back to the earlier seasons of frustrations with taking away developments we’ve waited for, mysterious amnesia and Freaks of the Week.. *that* was tiresome. They are finally giving us what we want. I fully support the cast and crew and watch every week and buy every set. Thank you all for making this show and the fans that support it! :)

    18. Bamagirl on Feb 16, 2010 4:42 pm

SMALLVILLE Season 10, Series Finale should read the headline.
This show and the fans deserve it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    19. donna on Feb 16, 2010 5:12 pm

I hope that Smallville will still have a 10th season, because that would make a very, very interesting not to mention fascinating BLOCKBUSTER!!

    20. doc53 on Feb 16, 2010 6:19 pm

If the reboot of the Superman movie franchise is not going to follow the Smallville model, then there needs to be a tenth season of Smallville that takes us into the Superman/Metropolis transformation. I have always envisioned the last scene of the series would be Clark in his Superman gear and actuallly flying, not jumping, out into the clear blue sky.

    21. Gabe Vert on Feb 16, 2010 7:24 pm

I AM VERY UPSET WITH THE CW!!, Smallville is my favorite show ever and i love it to death, i have all the sets, posters, calenders, books, figures, EVERYTHING!, Smallville is the CWs bread and butter and i cant believe its not the 1st to be renewed!!, S7 was rocky, only because of the writers strike though, and s8 really brought it back and awesome again(besides Lana) And now season 9 is the BEST SEASON EVER! I tune in every night to see it, i will never give up on it and i belive in it as all of you do. It deserves a season 10, if this is the end, i will be mad, but i love the show so much..i could accept it.
      CW PLEASE RENEW SMALLVILLE!!!!!!, PLEASE!!

    22. carlos on Feb 16, 2010 7:51 pm

i can say that friday nights are kisses of death waiting to happen to shows like when fox can terminator . i predicted it would happen sure nuff 3 month after i said it . boom good show was killed . fk fox . as for smallville i hope it gets 1 more season it would suck if its canned because there still a lot of lose ends, i once said lex still lives but people said i was crazy to say he could cloned himself with the 33.1 like he did to lana , i call it a failsafe proto-call . if memory serves me right lex lost everything and became dangerous like what they did on smallville with ollie buying luthorcorps from tess i think there will be blood at the end ….

    23. MsLang on Feb 16, 2010 8:02 pm

I love smallville and I love how the story keeps changing and now that clark and Lois are getting closer and Red/blue blur is getting closer to being superman we need a season 10. I hope that cw don’t discontinue this show yet.

    24. Steve on Feb 16, 2010 8:32 pm

I for one love Smallville, please keep it going to season 10. Pleas don’t get as stupid as NBC did with it’s shows. Life unexpected is good as well.

    25. Kit Walker on Feb 16, 2010 9:27 pm

I vote for Smallville to have season 10; Ending in season 10 with Mr Welling suiting up for the finale for some action pact fight scenes and taking his position as Superman! Thus ending the show honorably, with taste, and class! Another two hour movie!

    26. Matthew on Feb 16, 2010 9:43 pm

He just needs to start getting the rest of his powers and it would really help the ratings. The whole afraid of flying is getting really kinda old. There’s also plenty of other heroes to bring onto the show like Bruce Wayne (would be awesome). As far as renewing for season 10, it’s like a must, besides Smallville has come way to far in the season to make sense of a good ending anyways.

    27. imawi on Feb 17, 2010 3:21 am

      we want smallville season 10th….hopefully……season 10th…season 10th…..season 10th…..season 10th……season 10th

    28. Simon-M on Feb 17, 2010 3:25 am

Cw should give smallville season 10. This season’s ratings have been better than Supernatural, 90210 and GG and they all got renewed. My guess is the network is waiting to see if Tom’s new show takes off from the pilot!

    29. Ash Bash on Feb 17, 2010 7:12 am

Come On CW Network, I Beg For One More Season Of Smallville To Help Wrap Up Everything From The Past 9 Years, And Bring In Michael Mckean To Play Perry White As A Regular For Season 10 & That Would Be The Cherry On The Cake.

I’ve Watched Smallville From Season 1 Since It Started In 2001 And I Have Never Missed An Episode.

It Is One Of The Best Shows In The Last 20 Years, & I Would Love A Final Season To Help Finish Of The Development From Clark Kent Into Superman.

I Think Long Time Fans Of The Show, Like Myself Need A Season 10 To Show Lex Go Completly Bad & Clark Fly Off, With His Red & Blue Outfit. I Want Season 10 At Least…………..Personaly I Would Love A Season 11 & 12 As Well…..But Season 10 Would Be Enough I Guess………. So Come On CW, That Is One Of The Best Shows On At This Minute. & There As To Be At Least One More Year To Tell The Adventures Of Clark Kent……………What A Mega Show!!!!!

5 Stars!!!!!!!! Out Of 5 Stars….My Fellow Smallville Pals!!!!!!!

    30. GigaGaia on Feb 17, 2010 8:47 am

Even though they haven’t announced it yet, Smallville was officially picked up for a tenth season, it was revealed by some trustworthy sources.

    31. rick on Feb 17, 2010 9:25 am

If anyone thinks that Smallville has gone down hill they are delusional. The show if anything has got better. Yes, it was good at the beginning, but it started as a teeny bopper show and has bloomed into a full on action oriented superhero show. I’m really hoping for a next season and hopefully Michael Rosenbaum will realize he needs to come back as Lex, at least for some episodes next season!

    32. Confidential on Feb 17, 2010 9:30 am

I never cared much for the whole Clois deal. However, I do hope that the show lasts another season.

    33. thumper_net on Feb 17, 2010 12:12 pm

seems most tv programs in the us get canceled before they finish the story , atleast if they do cancel smallville ( which i hope they dont ) they must atleast do a mini season to tie up the story to blend it into the first superman movie , as i dont live in the us i cant do this but use twitter and facebook to get all smallville fans to not watch any other cw show block the viewing of the network apart from smallville , for those who like other programs can download the episodes , this type of action does work look at dr who its back and stronger than ever , power to the people ,these networks need viewers , no viewers for a week apart from smallville will send the cw a big message , and then season 10 will come

    34. JaySin420 on Feb 17, 2010 3:42 pm

Smallville is going to be renewed but it wouldn’t hurt for every fan to send the head of CW a short letter.

    35. nightflash on Feb 17, 2010 4:46 pm

Smallville MUST continue..CW>>>to wrap up and finish a perfectly great show! I would love to see more, but if this is the end for the show let it be season nine to get “Superman” developed and tied into the movies! End it with a two hour special and get Tom signed on to do Smallville specilas oor BETTER yet do movies of Smallville on the BIG Screen…look at the success of HBOs sex in the city specials and movies!!! Yes, I agree with others comments about the “suckyness” of 90210…the melrose place REDO sucks as well!!! CW get your act together…the only reason I stay watching is for the #1 Smallville…well Vamp Diaries and Supernatural are my 2nd and 3rd choices!!!!

    36. nightflash on Feb 17, 2010 4:53 pm

OOPS sorry all I meant let season 10 be the last not season 9…that’s if the TRY to cancel!

    37. Gabe Vert on Feb 17, 2010 5:37 pm

CW PLEASE!!!, IF YOU HAVE A SOUL!, PLEASE RENEW SMALLVILLE!!!, i dont get it, The cw has to know that smallville has a bigger fanbase than ANY of there other shows and i can GUARENTEE THAT!, They put it in the friday night slot of death and it got the best ratings for a cw friday in 3 years!, Absolute Justice broke 3 million!, No one wants to see Rich teens drinking and having sex, they wanna see real characters and heroes, and true passion. I hope the cw knows this, i have faith in smallville, and i did have faith in cw. all this fanboy wants is a season 10

    38. asmo64 on Feb 17, 2010 6:01 pm

just had a thought could it be that they might be ending smallville to introduce the new show with tom being the fully fledged superman we know flying and all

    39. Sally Farouk on Feb 17, 2010 8:24 pm

what!!!!! that’s a joke!! I’m from Egypt, and I’ve been watching Smallville since ever. I had to buy the seasons dvd every year! what the hell r they thinking? this is the only show i watch! i will not watch any other seriously. I only like the CW bec. of smallville
we should all write a letter, sign a petition, do anything.. smallville fans must try and save the show!

    40. Anna on Feb 17, 2010 9:10 pm

Cw Please renew Smallville and One Tree Hill already..

    41. Imzadia on Feb 17, 2010 9:34 pm

In my opinion, SMALLVILLE is one of the Best TV series in primtime television today. I disagree with those who feel that it was better in its early years, which I found to be quite juvenile, especially the FoTW years, and mostly geared toward a teenage audience in spite of SUPERMAN having nearly a 70 year Legacy at that time. Since SMALLVILLE is supposed to represent a ‘retelling’ of Clark Kent’s background story ‘Before’ he became the most Beloved Hero in our Pop Culture, I patiently waited for his story to ‘catch up’ with the man and hero I’ve loved throughout many years. It was such enrichment to give his ‘early years’ some much needed depth with its ‘Smallville Universe’, however, I’ve always expected this series to Grow and Change as Clark matured. As his world expanded and he began to understand and accept his Destiny, so would his story become more ‘adult’ in nature. I’m enjoying SMALLVILLE more this season than in all other seasons before now. It’s an Outstanding Production, even with its limited budget and meager advertising and network support. It’s a phenomenal story that was begun by its original creators, but the current showrunners have invigorated it and made it Fresh and exciting even in its 9th Season. I look forward to every episode and am hoping that it will return for a history-making 10th Season to complete its Retelling and finish the story respectfully as the Superman Legend deserves.

    42. jor-el on Feb 17, 2010 11:29 pm

any so called petition just in case to keep sv on air. the reason why sv for the moment no renewed is due to the time slot change from thu to fri and thus ratings . the fools at the cw what to focus vd and sn and now that is a big mistake and we know that cw is run by older generation individuals that go by old/inaccurate ratings to determine if a show will continue like nielsen. but if sv go off i hope nbc might be interested to pick it up to to make it a chuck and sv primetime thing.

    43. Wednesday on Feb 18, 2010 12:27 am

I really hope they renew Smallville for a 10th season because fans deserve it! We have all been loyal since day 1 and to short change us and end it abruptly without being able to wrap everything up properly is cruel to the fans! As much as I love Lois and Clark, I have thoroughly enjoyed Chloe and Oliver as well. They are pushing Clark to fulfill his destiny and are actually my favorite characters on the show.I am dying to see how their relationship will develop because they both deserve some happiness after everything they have been through. They have also brought in the Justice League which is what the mythology is about with Superman. I think CW would be stupid to cancel the show especially when they would put some new show in that would only get canceled anyway. There isn’t anything they could put out there that could compare to the quality and acting talent of this beloved show!

    44. Simon-M on Feb 18, 2010 12:09 pm

If there is to be no season 10, then i hope it’s because they are going to use smallville for the Superman Reboot. Chris nolan was supposed to be on board for the new film but with the new batman movie being given a 2011 release date and WB rights to the name reverting back to the siegel’s maybe this is the safest option for WB.

C’MON SMALLVILLE!!!!! I’m so hoping it goes through, and we get another season, i’ve been watching since episode one being a devoted fan, and i am gonna keep sticking with it til the end. I can’t see not having smallville on the air it’s just crazy talk. just make the season 10, and let it go out with a bang! Btw for the record soooooooooooooo happy that supernatural is renewed as well, i knew it would be, this season it awesome!! and omg i can’t wait for the 2nd season of TVD!!!!!! This will be a great fall season…..even greater if they renew Smallville

    46. Smallville Fan on Feb 18, 2010 12:58 pm

Started watching the series around the beginning of season 3 after that I was hooked. Bought the first 2 seasons to catch up and now as a yearly tradition when I buy the newest season I go back and watch it all over again from season 1 to the latest. I skip lame moments like the girl that shatters glass or the horrid product placement episode where Pete can stretch his arms. I’ve never thought a television series was worth buying that had so many seasons and probably never will again. I have Firefly and Spaced but they only have a few episodes (Not as time consuming). I can understand that the show has to end some time but at least give it a proper finale that you work up to and not a rushed one where you try to finish this season and at least make sure it has a finale. To not have a finale would be a betrayal to all of your viewers and people that have bought all the episodes so far.

P.S. Other characters may disappear but at least keep Chloe and the star of the show Clark. :D

Smallville is the only show I watch on the CW. I’ve watched it since the very first episode as well. If Smallville isn’t picked up for a 10th season then I will NEVER watch another show on CW and I won’t let my kids watch either. My 13 year old is a huge fan of the Vampire Diaries – she’ll be so disappointed! Smallville deserves a final season! It’s fans deserve a final season!

    48. Autumn on Feb 18, 2010 1:55 pm

My husband & I have been fans of SMALLVILLE since the beginning of the show. If the CW wants to end the show FINE. But we the greatest fans for a tv show deserves a 10th season. It needs to be the best season ever! Me as a fan sadly knew this day was coming that was part of- I never wanted Clark & Lois to get together. I understand that Tom & some of the others want to go off & do other things. SO PLZ CW JUST ONE MORE SEASON!!!!:) Oh & we are BIG fans of SUPERNATURAL! I also like The Vampire Diaries!

    49. Guy on Feb 18, 2010 5:40 pm

Well, of course I love smallville, but frankly I hope it ends soon. I have watched since season 1, always excited to see what happens next. At this point everything for the most part has happened, there is no smallville anymore and they have left that behind. I sit through this show with more commercials it seems than show waiting to see what happens…..but in the end we all know clark saves the day. So smallville I love you but lets ends this with dignity so I can do something else on my friday nights haha

    50. Clarksgirl83 on Feb 18, 2010 9:13 pm

I LOVE SMALLVILLE…IT’S THE ONLY REASON I WATCH TV ANYMORE..DON’T CANCEL SMALLVILLE..season 9 has been awesome, and the show has done very well in the friday time slot, so the CW would have to be crazy to cancel the show. Smallville is what made the CW what it is today. Please renew Smallville for a season 10. I think that season 10 should be the last season of the show. PLEASE DON’T CANCEL SMALLVILLE.

    51. Blacksands on Feb 18, 2010 10:15 pm

Heh…. I love smallville, but really…. I think its time for it to evolve if it really wants to move forward. Bring in the costume and relaunch it as a new Superman tv series….. the no-costume rule already went out the window the moment green arrow started wearing his getup…. then the JSA episode had more costumed heroes that what a “normal” episode of smallville had in its infancy… time to move forward and bring in the cape and tights and continue from there as Superman. Tom Welling ain’t getting any younger and the cape and tights will bring in new light and life to the show as it should in a new direction. They proved that a costumed show can be handled with the JSA ep… so why not go the whole hog and bring in Superman year 1.

hey im from the uk and am a massive fan of smallville me and my family went through all season 1-8 in 3 months,,,,thats seriousely being glued to these boxsets lol, when i was a kid i loved superman and i think i speak for everyone’s childhood hero there, you have to keep smallville going its soooooooooo good, still waiting for smallville seaon 9 release date on dvd but it’ll be worth the wait, all i can say is please keep smallville going through to season 10 at least and make a really good ending where all evil is condemed to the phantom zone with no way out and clark and louis get married. KEEP SMALLVILLE GOING.

    53. Smallville best show ever on Feb 19, 2010 7:25 am

I don’t get how the ratings are not better then shows like Medium or Supernanny. I don’t know anybody that watches thoses shows but everybody I know watches Smallville. I am 32 years old so I’m talking about people I know from the ages of 21 to 35. For me Smallville can go on forever. I can’t get enough. Not extending it for another season if not more is a mistake. It’s on Friday and i know people go out but everybody has Tivo or DVR and I think that is probably why the rating aren’t as good as the show I mentioned above because people watching it later. I LOVE SMALLVILLE!!!!!!.

It will be a pity not to renew the series for a tenth season. I’m in the crowd for it to happen but this renewal.

Everyone relax, Smallville will be back. I read that the big question is whether or not S10 will be the last and they are holding off on a huge announcement due to this season’s success.

Now if that’s wrong and they cancel it, everyone has the right to go crazy.

    62. mike on Feb 21, 2010 6:25 am

im so in love withis show its not about smallville being given a tenth season or not we have had 9 fanrastic seasons its about honesty they should of told the fans at the start of this season that its the last one just tell us whats going on cause you have us all in limbo which is like the c.w is giving nus the finger

    63. George on Feb 21, 2010 10:08 am

I have been watching Smallville since it first aired. Sure the show has had some isues but the series needs to finish. At least go to season 10 and finish with Clark putting on the traditiaonla Superman suite and Clark and Lois get together.

    64. ed on Feb 21, 2010 5:34 pm

renew smallville. I have not missed an episode yet. It is a great show. Please renew it.

    65. Misty on Feb 22, 2010 12:19 am

My family and I have seen every episode of Smallville and will continue to watch as long as it’s on.
It’s one of the very few television shows we never miss- and the ONLY CW show we watch. If it goes, there will be no CW viewership from this house.
I hope the CW is smart enough to renew this old favorite with its very loyal (and international) fan base. Like others have said…what else could survive in that Friday night graveyard timeslot?
      Go, Smallville!

    66. ronnie on Feb 22, 2010 9:54 am

    67. becketybeck on Feb 22, 2010 11:19 am

I think it’s time for Smallville fans to start a campaign to let the CW know we want to keep our show. We should all go to CWTV.com and email them.

    68. Barry on Feb 22, 2010 6:17 pm

Is the network serious, this has to be a joke !!!!
I have always been a major fan of smallville and been anxious
to see Clark Kent step into the shoes of the Greatest Superhero “Superman” in the history of comics.
That would not be ethical or fare in any matter of respect to loyal viewers abroad……………..
      FAVORITE TV SHOW

    69. Rob on Feb 22, 2010 7:36 pm

I would love to see the CW re-new Smallville for a 10th and final season! I would also like to see a Smallville theatrical movie! Season 9 has been awesome! I can only imagine what they could do with a season 10 or a $100,000,000 theatrical flick. I hope they can bring Lex back for the final episode.

    70. Josh on Feb 22, 2010 10:54 pm

      Its simple.
They need to have a season 10. Not just for the fans, but the respect alone to SUPERMAN. Where’s Lex?? Clark has got to fly and get his real costume. I know Tom Welling has that stupid “No Flights, No Tights” thing in his contract, but the show has gone past his life in Smallville. Even if its in the final episode, we need a glimpse of the uniform and he has got to fly and stand on top of the Daily Planet and pay homage to the real character of Superman. I’m sorry but I keep getting angrier seeing characters fly “The Legion, Bizarro, Martian Manhunter, Hawkman, that new kid in “Warrior”, Zod, Kara etc” its just getting ridiculous guys.

    71. ZCharmed on Feb 23, 2010 6:06 am

hey im a big smallville fan tough i cant get the channel CW in the UK i would watch it if i could so smallville will keep going it is the best season ever love it and would never want it to be cancelled Neverrrrrrrrrrrrr! clois are the best and want to see more when it comes on E4 plzzz dont ever cancel xoxo

    72. Tony on Feb 23, 2010 3:50 pm

It’s like this…..No matter how much we all support the show and beg for a 10th and final season. The network will only view this from a business stand point. It sucks but it’s true. As a loyal fan of Smallville since the first show aired and haven’t missed a show since. It will be hard to see it go but it may be the reality factor we as fans may have to adjust to. Do I agree with how the network is handling this? Absolutely not!!! However I do agree with most of you on here and the show does deserve a 10th season and a fair bow-out. But as fans we will have to either accept the decisions made by CW or really come together to get our voices heard. With that said if Smallville is signed for a 10th season. The show really needs bring out all the stops. First Mr. Rosenbaum needs to get off his high petal stool and show some respect to the show and fans that made a name for him. This BS of him complaining about having to shave his head is becoming non-sense and how can he sit there and say that the character of Lex has gone as far as he can go with it. I’d like to know what made for TV movie that nobody has heard of or watching is he filming this week. We don’t need Lex for an entire season with Doomsday, Brainiac, Bizzaro and Zod in the equation.

If the 10th season were to focus on all big villains that Clark had to encounter while in the process in becoming Superman. That would make for a great season if not the greatest. Plus if you throw in some JL and JS in the mix it could very well be Smallville best season ever. Clark would have to be Superman in full force. Flight is a must. I’m not so picky that he would have to wear the suit. The blur name has to go and Lois has to give him the name. If it were up to me I would focus on Lex in the beginning and end of the season. Brainiac and Bizzaro would be great for November Sweeps and Mid season. Zod would be great start to the second half of the season. Plus we can’t forget about Ms. Tess Mercer. Then as show approaches April/May build up a Lex/Doomsday show down. After all it is Lex Luther that brings Doomsday back from the center of the earth. Which if I remember correct at the end of season eight is ware Clark planted his ass. Of course this all sounds like great ideas. But in the real world it will never happen.

I’d like to know what some of you think…..

    73. GigaGaia on Feb 23, 2010 7:22 pm

Smallville was already renewed, several sources confirmed it recently. The CW might have not made the announcement yet, but this is pretty much a done deal.

    74. Craig Byrne on Feb 23, 2010 8:13 pm

No sources have confirmed a Smallville renewal, though it does seem likely, the network has been insistent that no decisions have been made and reckless proclamations that the show is for-sure coming back before negotiations are finalized could hurt the show’s chances.

    75. SmallVille73 on Feb 23, 2010 11:21 pm

Can somebody in CW tell me what is wrong with this picture here! It seems that all the comments here are for SMALLVILLE… You got to be kidding. I just hope SMALLVILLE won’t move to another station because it would be bad for CW showing no respect to the show.

    76. SmallVille73 on Feb 23, 2010 11:23 pm

I forgot something, if CW does not read these, I hate to say they need to get a better ophthalmologist for their eye!

    77. POLODOGG on Feb 24, 2010 11:18 pm

First of all id like to mention that I m a huge fan of Superman, and Ive followed Smallville since its first year. It was great following the development of the greatest super hero, up until the 5th season. It kind of got real LAME, story lines are predictable, Love story with Lois here and there, then there’s the 3 second fights scenes which always leave viewers hanging. I mean, Come on Smallville Superman can Kick Ass…..Smallville Episodes is becoming repetitious crap, It just disrespects Superman. So I guess what I m trying to say is I would not be surprised if the show got CANCELLED. CW COME ON if SUPERNATURAL another one of my favorite shows can Kick Demon Ass combined with great story lines, why cant you do a better job on Smallville to win back lost Fans like me ……..

    78. Breann on Feb 25, 2010 9:53 am

I agree with all the Smallville fans. I have been watching this show since day one and not dissappointed or tired of it yet. I admit that some seasons have been a little differents in the storylines but that’s what it’s all about. In regards to romance well like someone else said it’s inevitable and Lois is a huge part of Superman series and I was longing for it as well to happen. It has a little bit of everything and it’s what keeps me going and not get bored of it. It is a GREAT show!!! I’m pretty sure the CW will pick it up another season.

    79. Darren Watt on Feb 25, 2010 12:23 pm

Smallville season 9 might be last season for sure. If Smallville start season 10 rating will drop heavy from 2.5 to 1.4 be cancel half way thourg season 10. Season 9 Smallville is a good ending point/last season due to low rating like 2.5 or something.

    80. matt on Feb 25, 2010 1:12 pm

Im a connoisseur of Superman, ive collected everything from the 30s comics the the 30s early animation right upto season 8 of smallville…and i firmly believe the Smallville incarnation of Clark or more notebly now Superman is the greatest portrayal of the character ”ever” WHY…OK well we’ve been told the man story over and over again, but never the story of the boy who becomes the man and why!..we’ve never been shown or told how he came to deal with who he is and what his capabilitys are’ and how he comes to terms with using them, and for what purpose…and the Smallville people have nailed it” sure theres been few dodgy episodes, but all in all world wide Smallville is a smash, or it would never have got past the second season,..now nearly in its 9th year..its clear the people or majority have chosen the way forward for the future of Superman, or if you like who should definitely portray him…and i have to agree…it has to be Tom welling, i mean it worked for sex and the city…and it looks like they’ve already made sequel to it, and that show was’nt even tv show for half the time Smallville has been, so if it’s worked for that, im sure it would work for Smallville after its finished,…also Tom Welling’s played the character longer than anyone else in the industry, so it would only make the sense obviously to cast him as Superman, because lets face it’ brandon routh is ok actor but he’s not Superman” and i also believe this could be key factor into why the movie flopped…he just didnt convince people the way Tom welling dose, and as chris reeves said R.I.P, that a large part of it..to captivate the audience..to make them believe ”a man can fly” …so why should’nt Tom welling appear in Green lanturn…simply because his portrayal of the Clark kent character is been the best to date…just as chris bale’s Batman has been the best to date with the new life breathed back into the franchise, taking nothing away from the chris reeves legacy….there Gold classic” but it would seem fundimentally that Tom welling has as chris did all those years ago..captivated people into believing a man can fly…although he’s only taken flight once in nearly 9 years, however i believe the best is still yet to come, what they’ve done with Smallville is what George lucas failed the first time to do with Star wars, wheres lucus had to go back..they’ve made perfect foundational basis of which to launch 2 or 3 great Superman movies…and it worked with Star trek after the 60s series finished and it would work with Smallville…im not sure how many Star trek movies they made off the back of the 60s series…i do know they smashed the box office though, i dont believe we’ve ever seen Superman super before..sure sure we’ve seen him fly and move outside time in Smallville…but we’ve never seen what he truely capable of” the comics have always gave us glimpse…also if the keep casting the wrong people to play the key parts..the Superman franchise will fall into rut and decay just as the Batman franchise did in the 90s..before chris nolan rescued it!!…but with todays technology…and with the perfect cast Tom welling and michael rosenbaum…they should give us the world and Superman fans the movie we’ve been waiting so desperately for since mr reeves did the first movie!!! so should Tom welling be cast as the man of steel ..YES 100% he’s the way forward now for SUPERMAN!!!

    81. matt on Feb 25, 2010 1:14 pm

to be honest..financially Tom Welling seems to be the best bet for Superman….with how well Smallvilles done in the last 9 years, and with the success of the sex and the city movie…i would’nt be soo sure that Welling wont be donning the cape sooner rather than later, DC entertainment also suggests that the two part Smallville episode’ titled ”Absolute justice” is simple test run to see how well it goes down with the audience, it would also seem a great coincidence how DC entertainment stopped all materail concerning a sequel to Superman returns, the way WB sort fit in not renewing rouths contract together with alot of other issues concerning it,i together with many other Superman fans feel that Welling is or has been primed for the role as the next Superman,

    82. John on Feb 25, 2010 5:09 pm

Don’t get me wrong. I loved Smallville. (well, mostly) But it kind of feels like dating a girl for 9 years and never getting to sleep with her.
I want the payoff, you did the pre-Superman years (what is Welling like 42 now???), I had to sit through annoying as hell Lana romance crap with the horrible actress that played her, Come on , please give us full fledged Superman for at least an episode or two before the show ends. We deserve it.

    83. mike on Feb 26, 2010 6:50 am

ok you ppl that don’t think that smallville should go another season….what’s your problem smallville has been a great show since day one. It hasn’t been going downhill at all first of all you have to have your filler shows if they went straight to the point the season would only last a month. As for bringing lana back and Pete for guest apperances there is nothing wrong with that it is called tieing up loose ends and thier relationship. So if Lex were to come back what would the audiance say to that? i think that CW should pick it up for one last season..everyone that disagrees is not a superman fan at all and just shouldn’t watch the show

    84. Craig Byrne on Feb 26, 2010 10:40 am

“Mike” – please don’t tell other fans what to think or that “everyone that disagrees is not a Superman fan.”

Standard KryptonSite Forum rules also apply here.

    85. SVilleGal10 on Feb 26, 2010 1:50 pm

I personally couldn’t care less if SV gets a 10th season. It’s become so convoluted and riddled with retcons I don’t even recognize the characters anymore.

If there is a season 10, I’ll still watch, but only to see the journey end.

    86. Aimee smith on Mar 1, 2010 3:33 am

    87. Andre Pupulin on Mar 1, 2010 12:16 pm

I have been a fan since the start of the series, but I too must admit that it has taken a nose dive. The show can be great again, but needs a face lift. Everywhere from the opening credits, to the completion of Clark/Kal-El’s training in the fortress. Is Clark ever going to make the complete transfer to Superman???? Especially now that Zod is flying about the city. Go back the the blue and red Clark, and while you’re at it, throw on the cape and boots this time. IT`S TIME!!!!

    88. Hoss on Mar 1, 2010 1:13 pm

I have watched smallville since the day it aired, and have loved every single season. every season left me watching the calendar for the next season to begin. i get tired of watching alot of the things on t.v. these days because if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen em all…(boring) my favorite station is the CW i love supernatural, and the vampire diaries, america’s next top model, but the show that attracted me to the CW was smallville. i’m a true smallville supernatural, vampire diaries fan, always have been, always will be….

I am glad that SV will be back for a 10th season. I am anticipating another great season, hopefully they will bring back Lex and see Clark fly.

Perhaps they should kill someone off that is close to Clark, that could give him the urge to fly (at long last).

Also want to see the formation of the JLA, with Clark and Oliver gunning for the slot as leader.

      Can’t wait…

So, if CW decides not to run Smallville next year then they will lose a lot of viewers. I will aslo cut CW from my TV. This is the best show of all times. Please, I hope.. For the SAKE of all the original “Smallville” fans out there. CANCEL the series. I turned it on and I was like, WTF? Wait Young ZOD? Time Travel? Huh?? Where’s Lex Luthor? Who the Eff is Tess? Clark and Lex, where’s the hero and villain epic battle struggle? *cough* This is like Dawson’s Creek, with steroids. The series was only good through seasons 1-4. (facepalm)
