According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nip/Tuck alum Dylan Walsh is set to co-star in Life Sentence, The CW’s cancer dramedy pilot currently in development. He’ll be playing Paul, a stoic economics professor and avid golfer who isn’t the best at expressing his emotions to his children.
From Erin Cardillo and Richard Keith (Significant Mother), Life Sentence tells the story of Stella (Lucy Hale), a young woman having been diagnosed with terminal cancer. She gets a second lease on life when she learns that her illness is no longer terminal, but instead of feeling the full sense of joy that comes with this chance to do (and be) better, she’s already worried about the choices she made when she thought she wouldn’t be around to feel the full brunt of their repercussions.
In addition to his role on the FX drama, Walsh has appeared on the likes of Unforgettable, Longmire, and Designated Survivor.
Life Sentence is one of six CW pilots currently in development, joining fantasy-themed Searchers, DC-verse entrant Black Lightning, beauty pageant drama Insatiable, military drama Valor, and soapy reboot Dynasty in contention for 2017-18. While pilot casting should continue over the next couple weeks, decisions on what will make the schedule for next season should come in early May, once The CW has the chance to view pilots and assess the numbers on its series currently in limbo.
The CW has yet to issue a formal decision on Frequency, No Tomorrow, The 100, The Originals, and iZombie, while The Vampire Diaries and Reign will be concluding by the end of this season. Every other show the network airs in-season has been renewed for 2017-18.
