Deadline is reporting that The Affair‘s Brooke Lyons is set as series regular on The CW’s cancer dramedy pilot Life Sentence. She’ll be playing Elizabeth, a nurturing Type-A personality whose regrets about her life bring her to an uncertain crossroads.
From Richard Keith and Erin Cardillo (Significant Mother), Life Sentence tells the story of Stella (Lucy Hale), a vivacious young woman whose cancer diagnosis brought about a crisis of faith. Rather than live her life the way she had been, Stella threw caution to the wind and made the type of decisions she otherwise might’ve regretted, thinking that she wouldn’t be around to deal with the consequences of her recklessness in the long term. However, when Stella is given a clean bill of health, she’s forced to face the impact that her recent decision making has on her life.
In addition to her role on the Showtime drama, Lyons has appeared on the likes of iZombie, Grandfathered, and Jane by Design. She joins a cast that includes the likes of Gillian Vigman (Suburgatory) and Dylan Walsh (Nip/Tuck).
Life Sentence is one of six CW pilots currently in contention for next season, joining DC-verse entrant Black Lightning, military drama Valor, beauty pageant drama Insatiable, soapy reboot Dynasty, and fantasy-themed Searchers. Casting on every project should continue over the next few weeks, while decisions on which pilots will make it to series should arrive in early May.
