The CW has announced a change to their midseason schedule, as the final season of New Orleans-set vampire drama The Originals will now premiere Wednesday, April 18th at 9:00 following the upcoming musical episode of Riverdale. The series was originally slated to unfurl its final go-around Fridays at 9:00, the slot that will now be occupied by Life Sentence beginning April 27th. As a result of this latest reshuffling, the fourth season finale of Jane the Virgin is now set for Friday, April 20th at 9:00, with the first season finale of Dynasty moved up to May 11th at 8:00.
The move comes as the low-rated cancer dramedy, which stars Pretty Little Liars alum Lucy Hale as a young woman forced to grapple with the bold decisions she made when she thought her cancer diagnosis was terminal, hit a series low in the 18-49 demo yesterday. The series touched the 0.1 demo rating in its fourth episode and has neither the buzz nor the financial incentives to keep it away from Fridays, so the network acted in the best interests of its affiliates while allowing Life Sentence to air out its order.
From Erin Cardillo and Richard Keith (Significant Mother), Life Sentence also stars Jayson Blair (Whiplash), Brooke Lyons (The Affair), Elliot Knight (American Gothic), Carlos PenaVega (Big Time Rush), Gillian Vigman (Step Brothers), and Dylan Walsh (The Good Wife).
