Deadline is reporting that IMDb TV has given a 13-episode series order to a revival of TNT crime drama Leverage, tentatively set to begin production in June.
The revival, which comes more than seven years following its December 2012 series finale, will featuring a cast of new faces mixed in with four original series characters – Parker (Beth Riesgraf), Sophie (Gina Bellman), and Eliot (Christian Kane), and Alec (Aldis Hodge). Riesgraf, Bellman, and Kane will all be regulars, while Hodge is set as recurring due to his Showtime series City on a Hill filming at the same time as Leverage. Fellow original cast member Timothy Hutton won’t be returning due to recent sexual assault allegations levied against him; to help make up for his absence, the series is bringing in Noah Wyle, who worked with series creators Dean Devlin and John Rogers on The Librarians, as a lead.
The series order comes about due to the show’s strong performance on IMDb TV since its debut on the Amazon’s free AVOD streamer in 2019. This will easily be IMDb TV’s highest profile original, as the content they’ve produced thus far has primarily been unscripted and/or short-form. It’s as yet unclear whether Leverage‘s revival is a one-off where a show’s audience is too big to be denied or if the streamer will be looking to revive other titles it currently offers.
Among the library content offered by IMDb TV are White Collar, Psych, Desperate Housewives, Revenge, Ally McBeal, Lie to Me, Everwood, and Fringe.
