NBC is bringing back a venerable classic tonight as the original recipe Law & Order returns for Season 21 at 8PM ET/PT. The first episode back is called “The Right Thing” and after the chung-chung, this is what we can look forward to:
Newly acquainted partners, Bernard and Cosgrove, investigate the murder of a notorious entertainer. A dispute over throwing out a confession creates a rift in the DA’s office.
Bringing back the original Law & Order is something that creator/executive producer Dick Wolf has spoken about for many years. “I don’t think he’s ever stopped talking about it,” Sam Waterston, who starred in the original series, said at a recent press tour appearance. “One of the reasons that we’re back is because of his persistence and determination and his complete conviction that it was a terrible mistake to stop in the first place.”
“The other reason that we’re coming back, though, I think is because we stopped making the shows, but the audience never stopped watching them,” he continued. “So the audience’s persistent appetite for Law & Order is a major reason why we’re back. So thanks to them.”
Guest stars from the classic series will be joining Waterston and Anthony Anderson as the show goes on. Here’s a gallery of photos from the first episode:
