Deadline is reporting that airplane comedy LA to Vegas has been cancelled after one season by FOX.
One of several series whose fates weren’t decided by upfronts, LA to Vegas got off to a hot start in the ratings when it debuted in January, with FOX adding three episodes to its order. However, ratings cooled off as the season wore on and FOX decided to veer away from quirky single cams in lieu of a Last Man Standing revival and the impending Disney merger that would leave them without a sister studio. LA had been alive due to the possibility of a Will Ferrell guest appearance in the second season premiere, but when Ferrell couldn’t/wouldn’t commit to appearing in that particular episode, FOX formally decided to cut bait.
From Lon Zimmet (Superstore), LA to Vegas followed the lives of the crew and passengers of a discount airline that makes regular Friday-to-Sunday getaway flights from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. Over the course of a turbulent weekend, bonds are formed, money is lost, and experiences are had, but not everyone returns to Los Angeles better off than when they departed.
The series starred Dylan McDermott (American Horror Story), Kim Matula (The Bold and the Beautiful), Ed Weeks (The Mindy Project), Nathan Lee Graham (Hitch), Peter Stormare (Fargo), and Olivia Macklin (The Young Pope).
The season finale of LA to Vegas aired earlier this month on FOX.
