Thursday Night Team-Up: The Vampire Diaries & Nikita?

The CW announces it’s Fall 2010 schedule tomorrow, but the very-reliable Deadline.com is saying that the network might use Thursday nights to pair The Vampire Diaries at 8 with Nikita taking the 9PM spot.

This does make us wonder if Supernatural will indeed be moving to Fridays with Smallville’s final year, or if something else is planned…

Me, I’m just worried about how The Vampire Diaries will fare against the newly-relocated-to-Thursday Big Bang Theory.

Stay tuned tomorrow when we’ll know for sure.

I kind of wish that the CW would put One Tree Hill to the Friday slot at 8pm since it seems to be the last season of that. They should put Smallville/Supernatural combo on Tuesdays.

      Monday: 90210 (8pm); Gossip Girl (9pm).
      Tuesdays: Smallville (8pm); Supernatural (9pm).
Wednesdays: ANTM (8pm); Life UnExpected (9pm).
Thursdays: The Vampire Diaries (8pm); Nikita (9pm).
Fridays: One Tree Hill (8pm); ANTM repeats (9pm).

I don’t get it. “Smallville” is ending and “Supernatural” will probably end, so they could end up with nothing on Friday night. “The Vampire Diaries” and “Supernatural” work. “Smallville” and “Nikita” could work. I think “Nikita” and “Smallville” are more compatible than “Smallville” and “Supernatural.”

I kind of wish they’d move “America’s Next Top Model” to Friday. It’s a reality show, so if someone misses an episode, it’s not a huge deal. Put “Smallville” and “Nikita” on Wednesday, or even Tuesday. That way it alternates. “OTH”/”LUX”/”Hellcats” – “Smallville”/”Nikita” – “90210”/”Gossip Girl” – “The Vampire Diaries”/”Supernatural” – “ANTM”/Rerun/Reality Show or even “OTH.” That way it all blends.

And any word on the mid-season series? Is “Nomads” an actual possibility now?

I think One Tree Hill on Friday would be a disastrous idea. Smallville has actually worked there considering and I think that viewers of Smallville would be more prone to staying home than the OTH audience would be.

Also, I wouldn’t want Smallville on Tuesday at 8 – that’s where it would get creamed by Glee and probably No Ordinary Family also. No thanks.

Here would be my preferred CW schedule:

      Monday:
      8PM One Tree Hill
      9PM Gossip Girl

      Tuesday:
      8PM 90210
      9PM Hellcats

      Wednesday:
      8PM Life Unexpected
      9PM Top Model

      Thursday:
      8PM Vampire Diaries
      9PM Nikita

      Friday:
      8PM Smallville
      9PM Supernatural

I was thinking something along the lines of this…

Mon: Same as always OTH then GG

      Tues: 90210 @ 8, LUX @ 9 or Hellcats @ 9

      Wed: V. Diaries @ 8, Nikita @ 9

      Thurs: SV @ 8 and SPN @ 9

Friday: ANTM and whatever else maybe repeats of V. Diaries.

I’d be all for them giving up new programming on Fridays if it meant keeping the good stuff for the first 4 days of the week :)

    6. Thomas on May 19, 2010 2:18 pm

kalani – Wednesday isn’t as competitive and with “The Vampire Diaries” being the heavy hitter of the bunch, it’s best on the more competitive Thursday, or even Tuesday. I’d love “Smallville” and “Nikita” on Wednesday where it’s not so competitive, it’d give “Nikita” a fair chance. Personally, I don’t think “The Vampire Diaries” and “Nikita” are going to have a that similar audience.

I think “ANTM” is perfect for Friday, like you can miss an episode without being confused the next.

    7. Tyson on May 19, 2010 2:43 pm

Eh, I don’t like Smallville on Fridays because I like to go out on that night. I want Smallville back on a weeknight, fits my schedule better.

    8. Craig Byrne on May 19, 2010 2:45 pm

I think The CW (or any TV network) is going to think about the needs of the whole audience before they think of individuals. If nothing else works on Fridays yet Smallville does, it’s their best bet.

It makes me sad actually that Friday TV has become so not “must-see.” Then again I grew up watching the Dukes of Hazzard on Friday nights and then TGIF ruled the night. Now I don’t know if having hits that big on Fridays could happen again, and it’s sad.
