Tonight’s (April 6) episode of Kung Fu is called “Reunion” as forces collide — Zhilan (Yvonne Chapman) is back, and just like everyone else, she is searching for Mia!
KSiteTV spoke with Yvonne Chapman earlier this week as part of a larger interview will we will run here on the site soon so bookmark this page – but for now, let’s preview “Reunion” so you can all have an idea of what to expect!
“People are going to get the much-anticipated reunion of Nicky and Zhilan,” Yvonne Chapman promises. “There’s definitely going to be an amazing fight – one of my favorites of the entire season, actually. We’re gonna see a lot more action, and also perhaps you’re running with Zhilan and Mia, which is also highly anticipated from the fans, too, from what I can gather.”
Is Nicky going to be surprised to Zhilan back in the land of the living, and not dead as previously presumed?
“Yes and no. Because from all the she knows of Zhilan from Season 1, the woman does not go down without a fight, right? Having heard about the news of my death from Kerwin earlier in the season, I think she was probably a little bit skeptical about it, maybe accepting,” Yvonne explains. “So I think that when she sees me, there’s a little bit of a mixed reaction. But also, of course, I survived! I don’t go down without a fight! But she’s like, ‘alright, this is very plausible’.”
With Zhilan’s return to the series, what might be more important to her: Redemption… or revenge?
“At this point, revenge,” Yvonne tells us. “This man that she’s been going after for almost her whole life, is still getting away with what he’s doing, and she’s been locked up in a prison thinking about how she failed in our first attempt at this. Now, she wants to take down this man, and at the same time, I think that’s really interesting in her character development.”
“For her, it’s that understanding of ‘what’s the means that I’m going to get this, to do this, to accomplish this?’ Because what she did in the first season, didn’t work,” Chapman explains. “And then as we saw with her interaction with Pei-Ling, there’s a question about her her methodologies of going out and in accomplishing this vendetta that she’s had for a really long time. So at this moment, it’s she’s very much driven by a need to get revenge against this man who took down her entire family.”
