ABC has confirmed that FBI drama Quantico has been shifted from Tuesdays at 10:00, the slot it was given at upfronts, to Sundays at 10:00, where it will air this fall. As such, Biblical drama Of Kings and Prophets has been pushed to midseason, with Deadline citing upcoming recastings as a reason for the delay.
It’s as yet unclear what will be replacing Quantico on Tuesdays this fall. One possibility is Shark Tank spin-off Beyond the Tank, which put up promising numbers in a three-episode trial late last season, though ABC has quite a few dramas in its own tank if that’s the direction they decide to go. Also with a slight chance to take on a Tuesday hour is the Dancing with the Stars results show; were ABC to go that direction, it would likely result in Agents of SHIELD being pushed into the 10:00 hour.
ABC has been busy following its upfront presentation last month, as the network has ordered recastings on Blood & Oil, The Catch, Wicked City, Quantico, and Of Kings and Prophets, in addition to changing Oil‘s name to the aforementioned Blood & Oil. It’ll be interesting to see how they tackle the historically difficult Tuesday at 10:00 slot, especially since recent time slot occupant Forever improved Tuesdays at 10:00 by 70% in the demo.
From Josh Safran (Smash), Quantico follows a group of FBI recruits who arrive at the Quantico base for training. Though they might be the best and the brightest in their field, the type of minds who could do great things for the United States, one of them is suspected of masterminding the deadliest attack on American soil since 9/11. Starring Ray Winstone (The Departed), Haaz Sleiman (Nurse Jackie), and Maisie Richardson-Sellers (The Originals), among others, Of Kings and Prophets is a Biblical drama told from the perspective of battle-weary king, a powerful and resentful prophet, and a resourceful young shepherd on a collision course with destiny. Sounds like a great opportunity to restore Forever to Tuesday night. As you said, 70% improvement in a crap time slot is something ABC should not have shunned. ~63,000 signatures and climbing on a petition to find Forever a new home. Looks like ABC’s going to rue the cancellation.
