Showtime has released the first trailer for upcoming Jim Carrey comedy Kidding and in it, we see that even the sunniest, most uncomplicated of public figures can have private demons knocking at their door.
From Dave Holstein (Weeds) and Michael Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), Kidding follows Jeff (Carrey), a children’s entertainer whose alter ego Mr. Pickles has made an indelibly positive impression on his young audience. The head of a million dollar branding empire, Jeff is forced to reassess everything when his family begins imploding and his quality of life deteriorates faster than his ability to cope.
In addition to Carrey, Kidding stars Catherine Keener (Into the Wild), Frank Langella (The Americans), and Judy Greer (Archer). The series will be Showtime’s second current half-hour show, joining fellow fall offering SMILF.
The series premiere of Kidding is set to air Sunday, September 9th at 10:00 on Showtime, where it will follow the ninth season premiere of Shameless.
