While fans on the East Coast have already seen The Vampire Diaries celebrating “Friendsgiving” on tonight’s episode, it’s still yet to air on the West Coast, as it can be seen at 8PM on The CW, so consider this a preview/not-preview.
Yesterday on the set of the show, we spoke with actress Candice Accola (Caroline Forbes) about the event, and also, what other holiday happenings are on the way. Along the way she talked about how Caroline’s interactions with Klaus changed her perspective, at least temporarily, so “Klaroline” folks, this is for you.
Here’s what she had to say.
“What can I tease about Friendsgiving? We’re actually going to see some of these friends together,” Candice says. “I love when it’s kind of a very human situation, when you walk into it, because it’s such a supernatural based show, with an enormous mythology running through it. So, when something is just about Friendsgiving, I think it’s really nice, so it’s a nice foundation for the episode to build on. We’re going to see these friends interact. They’re going to be at college. They’re coming together to just celebrate a normal holiday. Obviously, some madness will ensue. We’re going to see the aftermath of how Caroline is feeling, now that she’s had this more face-forward discussion about her feelings about Stefan with Stefan. Usually, she just likes to cover it up and pretend everything’s fine, so we’ll probably see a little bit of that,” she teases.
How will Caroline cope in the holidays without being able to go home to Mystic Falls? “Caroline’s had a very difficult time, not being able to get home,” she says. “She is a homebody, and I think the running joke – at least in the first couple seasons, it’s changed now – is that what was so great about Klaus & Caroline’s relationship is it was the first time Caroline ever thought anything was outside of Mystic Falls, that there was a whole world out there. Before that, she probably just would have been a housewife, sipping on her Chardonnay, and reminiscing about being Homecoming Queen, if she would have never turned into a vampire and met all of these people. So, Mystic Falls is still very, very close to her heart, and it’s very difficult for her not to be able to go home, and we will see that a little bit in this Friendsgiving episode, and more as we go into the holiday episodes, which are really, really special this year. We just shot those recently. So yes, that is a running theme for Caroline, continuing on that she misses home.”
The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8PM (ET) on The CW.
