Australian actress Eliza Taylor (Neighbours) plays the lead character, Clarke, in The CW’s new drama series The 100 which premieres this Wednesday, March 19 on the network. You can read more about the series here. We visited the show’s Vancouver studio late last year during filming of the series and spoke to several members of the cast, including Ms. Taylor, whose interview we share with you today.
“She’s a natural born leader,” Eliza told us about her character from The 100, Clarke. “Not really by choice. I think she just cares a great deal about people, and I think she gets that from her father as well. It’s an issue within the group because the show has got that sort of Lord of the Flies underdone. You’ve got these hundred juvenile delinquents who really need to work together for the good of the group, but obviously, they don’t want to. So she’s trying to just get everyone to work together so that the human race can survive.”
Taylor thinks that The 100 will be “very relatable.” “When you’re a teenager, it’s kind of that thing of if someone says ‘don’t push the red button’ what you will do is push the red button. So they’ve told us to come down here and report back — [but] screw it, we’re gonna just live on our own and do our own thing and be independent. And that’s relatable, because every single teenager is going to do that in one way or another,” she says.
