The 100: Jason Rothenberg Talks About Tonight’s Season 2 Climax

HU216B_0266bAre there any characters that you wish we had gotten to see more of in Season 2?

There were definitely characters who I would say I wish had more screen time. The actors themselves would probably say they wished they had more screen time. But the truth is, it’s an ensemble show. It’s a big cast, and we try our best to have everybody’s story moving forward and told.

I don’t regret anything, if that’s question. I think this season was incredibly successful. I’m very, very happy with everything that happened in this season. Next season’s a different story. It’s a different world. It’s a different chapter of this book. Other characters will probably be featured more prominently. We’ll probably meet new people that we don’t even know about yet.

We didn’t know who Lexa was in Season 1, and now, she’s obviously a fan favorite. So, hopefully that happens again, with the people who we create in Season 3.

I’m really happy with the guest cast. Our cast is incredible, and I feel like the guest cast this year was really, really stellar, too. From Ray Barry who is a good friend of mine, and who just was incredible all season as Dante, Johnny Whitworth, Adina Porter as Indra… and of course, Alycia. I’m probably leaving people out, but I feel like the guest cast really raised the bar this season.

HU216B_0331bWhat are you most excited for people to see in the season finale?

I’m most excited for people to see the climactic moment that the whole season’s been building towards. The whole season has been about how far we can push Clarke. How far are you willing to go to get your people back? In Episode 15, Lexa crossed the line and sacrificed Clarke the Sky People to save her people. Dante sacrificed the 44 kids that he’d been essentially protecting in his sort of weird moral line that he drew as far as “I’m not gonna cross that.” He was forced to cross it in 15. And Clarke comes to that moment in 16. I’m most excited for people to see how she will deal with similar situation, when she’s pushed to the brink. How far will she to go to save her  people? I’m most excited for people to see the resolution of that story. And, of course, I’m equally excited for people to see how we turn the ship into Season 3 with Jaha and Murphy’s story.

The 100 season finale “Blood Must Have Blood, Part 2” airs TONIGHT at 9PM on The CW. Take a look at some preview images below:

Lip-touch-something? I see. As it seems Clarke can only kiss Lexa properly…

Aw, I was hoping Lexa would be made into a regular. I don’t really keep up with a lot of TV so I didn’t know she was cast in TWD spin-off, which is a great thing for her!
…But I really, truly loved the grounders and Lexa this season, especially her dynamic with Clarke – what a compelling look into the complexities of leadership via two polar opposite perspectives, yet still magnetically kindred. I feel like there’s just so much more they could do with Lexa as a character and also with her relationship with Clarke/other sky people. I mean, we were just finally beginning to see her platinum steel emotional armour crack thanks to Clarke!
But alas, I look forward to the finale! Season 2 really has impressed me and put this show on a whole new level.

I hope that ‘something’ is Bellamy’s lips!
