As the second season of The 100 has begun, we’ve seen that Eliza Taylor‘s Clarke has taken a darker, harsh turn, seemingly doing anything to accomplish what she needs to get done.
To find out more about Clarke’s new ways, we spoke with Eliza Taylor recently at The CW’s lunch room to find out more about what’s going on.
“She’s basically in survival mode,” Eliza admits. “She’s not really thinking about anything but getting out of there, and she certainly, throughout the season, you see her take a much darker turn. She’s gone from being locked up on the Ark to a leader on Earth, and then locked up again, so for her, it’s a massive turn of events, and she is not exactly happy about it.”
There may be parallels behind Clarke’s new ways and the dark direction taken by Finn these days. “Finn – he was more of a pacifist last season, and this season he’s definitely turned that around. Even though they are separated, there’s still that connection there, which is interesting,” Taylor says.
Regarding Finn, he and Raven are getting close again, but also, Raven has developed a closeness with Clarke’s mother, Abby (Paige Turco). How might Clarke react when she finds out? “It’s quite confronting for Clarke,” she says. “She had no idea that Raven and her mother were so close. So that’s going to be really interesting to see them all come together again, and how that will go down. The Finn and Raven thing? She’s definitely taken a step back, because there’s much more important things to be thinking about, but I kind of love Raven and Clarke, because it’s not your typical bitchy sort of thing. They actually don’t hate each other. As much as they’d love to, they have a mutual respect for each other. Which is nice, and different.” And don’t fret, “Bellarke” shippers: There may be some home. “We all know that they are going to bump into each other at some point or another in Season 2, but whether or not anything comes of it, I don’t know yet,” Eliza teases.
You can see video of our interview below, where Eliza talks about conflicting reactions to Mount Weather, what her priorities will be once she escapes, how terrifying the Reapers are, and more.
