Finally, we’re getting to post our interviews with the cast of The 100 at this year’s Comic-Con International in San Diego.
The first spotlight goes on Bob Morley, who plays Bellamy on the series and at first is extra cautious to avoid getting himself in trouble by spoiling anything about Season 3.
“This season, we’re definitely going into a lot more scifi stuff,” he does reveal. “You’re going to learn about how the world became the way it did. I can’t wait to see how he’s gonna tell that story, but it also means I probably won’t be doing much work, because Bellamy wasn’t alive then!”
“I asked Jason ‘what would the theme be of this year?’ It’s kind of about rebuilding. So, this year, I think there’s going to be a lot more homebody stuff, decorating rooms, that kind of thing,” he jokes.
Bellamy has gone through a lot of changes since we first saw him, and in Season 2, his character evolved even more. “I think in the second season, Bellamy spent a lot of the time trying to redeem himself and forgive himself for being responsible for killing all of those people in Episode 5 of Season 1. Bellamy was from Sector 17, and all those people that did self-sacrifice were people he would have known,” Morley explains. “It was a selfish thing that he did, to throw out that radio that caused all of those problems. So from that point on, he was doing his best to protect The 100. And then for him to go on a suicide mission to Mount Weather, it was the only way he could feel like he could repay the debt. I think he’s pretty happy that he saved everyone, but it came at a massive cost, to have to sacrifice everyone in Mount Weather who also helped him. Families that he knew that were hiding his friends… Clarke didn’t really know these people, but Bellamy did. I guess he’s going to have to try to move on from that. But how do you move on from having a thousand dead people under your belt?”
In addition to the topics above, Morley also talks about the status of his character’s relationship with his sister Octavia as well as Lincoln, and how Bellamy deals with the Grounders moving forward. Additionally, he hints at some politics coming to the show, and the possibility of more “Bellarke.” “I think before any of that happens, they’re definitely going to have to talk about how she abandoned him. But we’ll see. I don’t actually know,” he says.
